Three Thousand Years Of Longing: Release Date, Cast, And Trailer

Three Thousand Years of Longing is the newest venture from the esteemed filmmaker, George Miller. The Australian director and screenwriter is most well-known for his involvement in the Mad Max franchise, which included the supremely popular, Mad Max: Fury Road. The 2015 film grossed over $300 million in the global box office.

Due to his prior successes, many film lovers are hotly anticipating the release of Miller’s newest project, Three Thousand Years of Longing. So, what do we know about the film so far?

When Will Three Thousand Years of Longing Be Released?

The fantasy drama had its worldwide debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022, where a handful of lucky attendees watched it several months ahead of its release in cinemas. Their reactions have set high expectations for the film, as it reportedly received a six minute long standing ovation. 

Luckily, the rest of us do not have to wait too much longer to see the film ourselves, as it is reported to be released at the end of the summer. The official release date for U.S. audiences is August 31st 2022. 

British viewers will have to wait slightly longer, as the film is set to be released in the UK on September 30th 2022. 

Who Is In The Cast Of Three Thousand Years Of Longing?

One of the most exciting aspects of this film is its star-studded cast. Many were excited to find out that the beloved Idris Elba had been cast as the male lead, playing the Arabic mythical creature, known as a Djinn. Viewers were equally pleased to find out that Elba would be playing alongside the hugely successful actress, Tilda Swinton. Between them, they have an OBE, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and many more impressive accolades. 

Along with Elba and Swinton, the cast features the Australian Paralympic swimmer, Sarah Houbolt, who is making waves as a actor. 

Has The Three Thousand Years Of Longing Trailer Been Released?

The official trailer for the film was released last month and has given viewers an insight into what to expect of the mysterious fantasy drama. The trailer is two and a half minutes long and tells us a little bit about what the film holds in store. It seems that Three Thousand Years of Longing will explore dark fantasy, romance, and comedy, all in one. It really does have something for everyone.

From the trailer we can see that the film takes place in the heart of Istanbul and has impressive, picturesque visuals.

The trailer also gives us a sense of the film’s plot, depicting Tilda Swinton’s character encountering the Djinn (Elba), and being offered three wishes. Is the Djinn good or bad? It is hard to tell, especially because it seems impossible to dislike Idris Elba. However, luckily we don’t have to wait much longer to find out.
