An American woman living in the UK dished on what ‘yanks’ actually think about their British counterparts… and it’s interesting.
Maxine, also known as @yorkshireyank on TikTok, has taken the social media platform by storm with her hot takes on British culture and beloved food.
Having moved over to North Yorkshire to live and work, she decided to share her truth about what people in the US really think about the UK and Brits.
This time, she spilled the tea and created a recreation of the misconceptions American’s largely believe.

To be honest, some of them as spot-on, so before you get angry about what she may or may not have said… just think about how much we like tea.
Anyway, she began the video by explaining that this is ‘how Americans think the UK is’, and immediately held up her mug to take a sip of her brew.

Turning to the camera, she joked about what ‘yanks’ think, saying: “Here in the UK, we start each day with a cup of tea and royal wave out the window.”
Next, she revealed that US natives think it’s always raining in the UK (mostly true): “Rain? It's always raining. It's actually emotionally raining, even when it's not raining.”

As for our household pets, yanks apparently we’ve all taken a leaf out of the late Queen’s book, stating: “Ah yes, and everyone in the UK owns a corgi - you get one issued with your NHS number.”
As for the Royal Family, they think we’re streaming news about them all day, every day.
She said that ‘Americans think we watch the King every single day,’ and hit back at the US by clarifying: “I hate to break it to you but that's a no.”
Of course, she shared that we do like our snacks here, and you can’t deny that as not being a cold, hard, fact.
In one video, she described being shocked by the British class system, calling the US ‘obsessed’ with class.

She went on to share that the class systems follow the lower, middle and upper tiers and that if you’re upper, you probably have a corgi and listen to Radio 4.
However, another American in the comments also said that this is a common culture shock when moving to the UK from the US, and class systems are different.

The person wrote: “As an American living here too I think that the most shocking aspect of this issue is that you are born into social class here, it defines you, it doesn’t have to do with wealth and you can’t really climb up or melt down from the ladder.
“Very contrary to American culture. You can be born into it, but you can rise and fall, and it exclusively has to do with wealth.”
However, some British folk corrected her that there’s a lot more sub-sections to the class system, with one writing: “I think there are so much more classes now. Each class now has about 3 sub classes like lower middle class middle middle class and upper middle class.”
Another stated: “Oh no, no, no it's far more complex than that. there's upper middle, lower middle, lower upper, upper low and every combination in between. (btw if you're posh it's lavatory).”
Anyway, she’s starting to get it.
