Bizarre new trend has young people taking ‘caviar bumps’

'Caviar bumps' is the new - and very expensive - food trend taking over TikTok.

If you've got money to burn on a night out, then 'caviar bumps' might be for you.

The new expensive food trend is taking over TikTok and content creators are having mixed experiences with it. Watch below:

For those who are bored of your bog-standard tequila shots with salt and lime, there could be a very expensive alternative which might be right up your street.

As a non-drinker, caviar bumps aren't really my thing. Yet it seems that even people who don't drink booze are trying out the trend on social media.

Taking to TikTok, one influencer said: "I don't drink or eat seafood but sure let's do a caviar bump."

So, without further ado, a caviar bump is 'a small amount of sturgeon roe that you eat all at once'.

Fancy scoffing some of this off the back of your hand?

"The bump is similar to a shot, but instead of using a plate or spoon, you bump caviar off your hand," explains LA-based caviar distribution company Imperia Caviar.

"Bumping caviar is even more fun with friends.

"Order a round of caviar for your table at a restaurant or have caviar shipped to your home for bumps while hosting parties."

So, how do you do a caviar bump?

After opening your caviar tin, as you do, put a small spoon of it on your mate's hand.

Then, pour a spoonful onto your hand, just beneath the spot where your thumb and pointer finger meet.

"Lick the entire portion off of your hand, or your partner's hand in one swipe of the tongue," the caviar company explains.

"Here's another idea — have you ever tried licking a pinch of salt off of your hand before a tequila shot? Give the experience a touch more class by replacing the salt with caviar.

"Take a bump off of your hand and down a shot of your preferred spirit as a fun and fancy way to enjoy caviar with friends."

While the price tag for caviar in the UK costs a minimum of £29.40 per 50g, it seems that there are lots of nutritional benefits.

Caviar actually has a lot of nutritional benefits, so this could be a trend you want to join in with.

I mean, you'd hope so for that price.

"Caviar offers numerous benefits any way you consume it," Imperia Caviar adds.

"It's a delicious food full of vitamins and minerals that are great for your immune system. People choose to bump caviar as a fun and exciting way to experience the benefits.

"Bumping caviar is a bit out of the ordinary, so it breaks the ice and lightens the mood when spending time with friends. "Everyone will get a smile out of this new activity. If your group is comfortable with it, you can even take bumps off each other's hands."

The only bump anyone is getting off me is a fist pump, if you're cool enough.
