The most horrible job interview question - that we all know is coming but never know how to prepare for - has now been answered.

Toronto-based TikToker 'Emily The Recruiter' is known for her great advice when it comes to finding a job.

Her 480k followers on the platform regularly tune in to see what she has to say and earlier this month Emily dropped an absolute gem that might help you get past that dreaded question 'why should we hire you?'

In the UK, only two percent of candidates who apply for a job actually get an interview. And on average, hiring managers will only interview six people for every one vacancy.

Yep, it's tough out there.

Although you're likely to be rejected a number of times before someone finally says 'yes', the important thing is to keep going.

Also, listening to what recruiters actually have to say won't do you much harm.

Taking to TikTok, Emily wrote in her caption to her video: "Here is how to answer 'why should we hire you' in an interview."

The recruiter gives the perfect 'model answer' and uses Google as an example.

She said: "This is specifically what you are going to say, coming from a recruiter who knows her s**t.

"Answers like, 'Oh, I'm gonna be really good at this job,' will not suffice.

"You're gonna provide an answer that calls out the company, calls out the role, calls out your ambitions.

"It's gonna sound like this, 'When I saw Google was hiring for a senior recruiter role, I knew that I had to apply because I really aligned to your company's core values.

"'And when I did further research on the role itself, I knew I brought to the table all of the Excel and presentation skills that were critical for the position.'

"'And when I think about my career growth, I know Google is a company I'm keen on growing out, learning from and investing in, so it seems like the perfect fit.'"

"You're welcome."

Sadly, the comments section were still pretty hopeless about their job prospects, with one person writing: "This game is so tiring."

Another added: "‘I need money to live’ should be an acceptable answer."

"Why should we hire you? cus i need a paycheck," a third said.

"Why am I BEGGING to provide LABOR? I am so tired," someone else questioned.

I know it's hard but keep going, keep applying and it will happen.
