Tom Cruise is keen on doing a project involving Tropic Thunder star character Les Grossman

The actor and producer Christopher McQuarrie are reportedly ‘fixated’ on the character.

Tom Cruise is reportedly keen on reviving the infamous Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman for an upcoming project.

Fresh off Top Gun: Maverick jumping up to 13th spot of the all-time box office list, surpassing AU$1.85 billion (US$1.3b), it seems the actor, along with producer Christopher McQuarrie, aren’t in the mood for slowing down.

According to Deadline, the duo is working on three entirely different projects.

Whilst the pair is right in the thick of putting together Mission: Impossible 8, they are also keen on putting together a ‘song and dance-style musical’, and an original action film unconnected to Mission: Impossible

Amongst those projects, they are reportedly ‘fixated’ on the over-the-top producer with a fiery temper from Tropic Thunder.

Coupled with a bald cap, and excessive prosthetics, Cruise was almost unrecognisable as Les Grossman.

Grossman wasn’t a starring character in a film that included the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Ben Stiller, and Jack Black, however, his ridiculous one-liners and dance routine made him a memorable inclusion.

In a movie, which let's face it, was as ridiculous as they come, Grossman managed to stand out with his outburst, love of Diet Coke, and incredible dance technique, especially to that of ‘Low’ by Flo Rida.

DreamWorks Pictures

Out of the reported planned projects, you have to imagine the dance-style musical would best fit the Grossman character, especially if the project has a bit of a comedic tinge to its script.

You’d think the duo would struggle to create a Grossman spinoff centred around the character, but perhaps he will once again appear in that original action film project in a cameo role.

However, it was rumoured that the Les Grossman character almost did very nearly get its own movie.

According to Screen Rant, the reaction to Cruise's cameo was so well-received that it was actually scripted.

Although it was developed, nothing ever came of it - but that doesn't mean that it won't.

While the role was a small one for an actor like Tom Cruise, his pure commitment to the cause made it an absolute highlight.

Following off such a successful movie in Top Gun: Maverick, as well as traditional action-heavy roles in Mission: Impossible, and Oblivion, it might be nice to see Cruise switch it up once again and play Grossman.
