Chris Hemsworth Is Up For Three Amigos Remake With Chris Evans And Robert Downey Jr

Chris Hemsworth Is Up For Three Amigos Remake With Chris Evans And Robert Downey Jr

It has been more than three decades since the original film was released, so maybe it's time for a revamp?

Actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed he wants to remake 1986 Western comedy Three Amigos - and he'd love to buddy up with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr to do so.

For anyone who's not au fait with the 80s classic, the original film stars Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short as three silent movie stars who find themselves mistaken for real heroes when they visit a Mexican village.

And it turns out Hemsworth is a bit of a fan, having suggested he'd be up for a remake.

While at ACE Comic-Con Midwest, Hemsworth was asked if he would be willing to reunite with former Avengers co-stars Evans and Downey Jr on-screen.

The star said: "Absolutely. I would love to."

He continued: "That was so sad about kind of finishing Endgame, was just, 'were we ever going to get to hang out again?' And I immediately started thinking, 'what else could we do?'

"And I'd love to. We could remake the Three Amigos or something."

While Hemsworth's suggestion may have been semi-sincere, in an age where we're giving pretty much every retro film is given a sequel, reboot or remake, Three Amigos is surely a prime candidate for a new lease of life?

It has been more than three decades since its release, so if anything, I'm slightly surprised it's not been touched yet.

Director John Landis is still on the scene making films, so maybe he could do it justice...

Also at Comic-Con this weekend, Taron Egerton piped up to confirm that a script for a third Kingsman film exists.

Speaking as part of a panel discussion, Egerton said: "I'm really not allowed to say anything, but there is a script."

He continued: "It's a really neat idea. That plan, at the moment, is that we'd like to do another one, one more time."

Confusingly, we should add, the third movie in the trilogy will be released after The King's Man, the prequel due out next year - which won't feature Egerton.

Egerton also told fans he has a huge soft spot for the role of Eggsy, and because of his history with the Kingsman franchise he'd love to return to the character one last time to bid farewell.

He said: "It was the role that kind of started my film career so I'm always going to feel, you know, a great fondness for the part.

"I would like to do one more because frankly, I'd like to say goodbye to him [Eggsy] in a befitting way and to finish the trilogy. All good things come to an end. It was always imagined as a trilogy and I think it'd be great to finish the story off because I've loved playing the character."

The King's Man is due to hit cinemas on 14 February 2020 - while a Three Amigos remake is still just a figment of Chris Hemsworth's imagination, sadly.
