Chris Hemsworth has teased that there could be 'another couple' of Extraction sequels on the way.

The actor, who played Tyler Rake in the action flick, made the revelation as he won a People's Choice Award for the action movie star of 2020.

Accepting the award via Instagram video message (2020, innit), the 27-year-old beat the likes of Charlize Theron, Jamie Foxx, Vin Diesel and Will Smith.

He said: "We wanted to make a film that was different, unique, exciting, full of action but pushed the envelope. And I think we achieved that. None of that was possible without your support.

"So I'm forever in your debt, I love you guys, you guys are the greatest...

"It was one of the most incredible experiences that I've ever had on a set and we're gonna try to make another couple more for you."

In an Instagram post, he wrote: "Just like the narrative of this film, I extracted the win right out from under the noses of some truly fine performances.

"With brute force and mayhem and little regard for my own safety or anyone else's I pushed forth to victory only to topple off a bridge and sink to my death....or did I....

"Not sure, you'll have to check out the sequel coming soon."

Hemsworth stars in the film as mercenary Tyler Rake, who is sent to Bangladesh to rescue a drug lord's kidnapped son.

The movie's ending certainly doesn't make things look good for Tyler Rake - however, as we know in the movie industry, nothing is certain.

Back in May, it was confirmed that Joe Russo had signed a deal to start writing Extraction 2.

Speaking to Deadline, Joe Russo said it's not yet clear what the sequel will look like, but he's excited to start working on it.

"The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be," Russo said.

"We're not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience."

He added that Extraction has plenty of characters to dive into if they want to pursue a sequel, or they can explore Hemsworth's character's origins.

Extraction is available to watch on Netflix now.
