Chris Hemsworth had to be set on fire several times while filming Extraction 2

Chris Hemsworth had to be set on fire several times while filming Extraction 2

And before you ask, no, his abs were not harmed in the making of this movie.

Chris Hemsworth spent a good chunk of time on fire while on the set of Netflix's highly anticipated Extraction 2, director Sam Hargrave has revealed.

Hargrave, who is actually a stuntman that went on to become a director, sat down with Empire to chat about the upcoming movie.

He also revealed how they upped the stakes for the sequel, which of course includes the on-fire scene.

The moment has been described in the script as 'the craziest 'oner' in cinema history', and we have to admit, it’s pretty epic.

But, hey, see for yourself. Catch the trailer below.

If you're unfamiliar with the lingo, a 'oner' is an epic rather, long scene that is shot to appear as a single take to the audience.

You know, they're the ones that always look flippin' cool.

The director sat down with Empire to take fans behind the scenes and, in doing so, revealed what his favourite part of the upcoming movie is.

"For me, the image of Chris Hemsworth beating the s**t out of a bunch of prisoners, while on fire, in the snow was something that I couldn’t pass up," he said.

"And hats off to Chris [as] it wasn’t CGI fire. He had to do it over and over."

We'll have to admit, that does sound cool. It also looks pretty incredible, so we can't wait to see what the rest of the movie has in store for us.

Hargrave, who even acted as Chris Evans’ stunt double while he was Captain America, went on to give the Australian actor a shoutout for his hard work.

"I don’t know a lot of people, let alone Hollywood A-listers, who are gonna let you light them on fire while on camera," he said.

Oh, and If you're wondering just how they lit Hemsworth on fire without singeing a hair on his head, then you won’t need to look further than the costume department.

You'll find the answer filed under 'fire-resistant clothing'.

"We had a bunch of different jackets all prepped for him, with different layers," Hargrave said.

"Then we lit Chris Hemsworth on fire and he beat up a bunch of guys all night."

"It was pretty incredible to watch."

So, it looks like it's time to start counting down the days until Extraction 2 hits a TV screen near you.

Extraction 2 will drop on Netflix on June 16.
