Chris Hemsworth shared an update about his Hulk Hogan biopic, where he will 'put on more size than ever' for the role.

The Thor actor, who turned 40 today (11 August), spoke about the project which has been in development for quite some time.

After news of the biopic’s development emerged in 2019, Hemsworth teased the following year that he will take on his biggest physical transformation to morph into the wrestler.

Since he's a well-known fitness fanatic and has already undergone rigorous training to become the God of Thunder in the MCU, we're all wondering what he'd look like.

Professional wrestling took the world by storm in the 1980s and Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, established himself as one of the most popular figures.

His antics and persona made him a huge hit among WWF fans while his aesthetic consisting of platinum blonde shoulder-length hair, a horseshoe moustache and bulging muscles were known everywhere.

Joker director Todd Phillips is set to direct the project, which will be released on Netflix and Bradley Cooper is meant to be one of the producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Back in 2020, Hemsworth told Total Film: "This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical.

"I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.

“And it's not just the physical transformation," the Aussie star added: "There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.

"I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I'm really looking forward to doing."

Hemsworth told the publication that the film is ‘quite away a way away’ and three years later it seems we still have a long wait and there are questions about whether it'll come to fruition at all.

"I haven't even seen a script yet,” he admitted at the time. “The project is deep in development. Todd Phillips and I met to chat about it maybe a year or two ago. We talked about the idea for the film, which I think was going to be a TV series at one point.”

During an interview with GQ in June, Hemsworth answered questions from fans on various social media sites for the ‘Actually Me’ series. One fan on the app formerly known as Twitter asked if the movie was still being made.

The Marvel star replied: “I’ve spoken to Todd Phillips about it a few times about making it and we both had pretty wild schedules. There is a film there and a story which could be really exciting and fun, which we’re both pretty enthusiastic about, but who knows? It’s still in the sort of ether of possibilities.”

Since the Hulk Hogan project was announced, Hemsworth revealed he’s ‘taking time off acting’ after making a shocking health discovery while filming his show Limitless.

During an interview with Vanity Fair in November 2022, the actor explained that he underwent a test that showed he had two copies of the gene APOE4, which has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease.

He said he is ‘eight to 10 times more likely’ to have the disease in the future.

Hemsworth explained that doing the show made him want to spend more time with his family.

“It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off,” he said. “And since we finished the show, I've been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Now when I finish this tour this week, I'm going home and I'm going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”
