Disney has just dropped the trailer for its new series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers - you can watch it here:

With its stars dubbed a 'new generation of game changers', the series will be a reboot of the popular film series which was originally released back in the '90s.

The Disney+ original series will be available for people to stream from 26 March and it's pretty clear to see that fans are delighted.

Replying to the trailer release, one said: "Ok don't mind me I'm gonna go binge watch the original until I can watch the new one."

Another added: "I'm feeling really old! I remember being the age of nieces, who I am determined will love this, when I first became obsessed with Mighty Ducks."

One of the standout moments from the trailer is the familiar face that comes in the form of Emilio Estevez. The iconic actor is is reprising his role as Coach Gordon Bombay from the 1992 movie and its subsequent sequels.

This time around, the story is set in present-day Minnesota, with the trailer revealing that mum Alex (played by Lauren Graham) starts her own hockey team of misfits after her son Evan (Brady Noon) gets cut from the now super-competitive Mighty Ducks youth team.

Enter Bombay (Estevez) - who is loitering around a rundown ice rink as Alex and Evan search for somewhere to practice.

Estevez starred in the original films.

Speaking to US Weekly in February last year following the announcement he would once again join the popular franchise, Estevez sounded pretty keen to once again hit the ice.

He said: "Once a Duck, always a Duck. After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay's jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise."

Among some of the fresh faces to start in the 10-episode series are actors Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O'Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham and DJ Watts.

The original film starred Estevez as Coach Bombay, who was made to do community service in the form of coaching the Ducks against his former peewee coach from rival team the Hawks.

The hugely popular film not only spawned two sequels in 1994 and 1996, but it also inspired an NHL team, who named themselves the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1993 and are today known as the Anaheim Ducks.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres on Disney+ Friday 26 March.
