Drew Barrymore has joined the Leonardo DiCaprio appreciation club by describing the Titanic star as 'hot'.

The comment wasn't without reason - she was replying to an Instagram post about climate change.

Let us explain - on Tuesday (13 July), DiCaprio posted an infographic detailing the various climate-related catastrophes we've seen in recent years.

He captioned the post: "The difference between 1.5C, 2C or 3-4C average global warming can sound marginal. In fact, they represent vastly different scenarios for the future of humanity.

"The frequency of disasters, the survival of plants and animals, the spread of diseases, the stability of our global climate system and - ultimately - the possibility for humanity to survive on this planet hinge on these few degrees."

The star went on to affirm that the world still has the 'chance to meet the 1.5C goal mentioned in the Paris Agreement'.

Despite the serious tone of the post, Barrymore decided to chime in with a comment that makes us yearn for a Hollywood couple we didn't know we needed.

"You should be the hot one, and not our planet," she wrote, adding in a separate message, "Thank you for always have been the pioneer of saving our earth."

Although DiCaprio is yet to respond, followers were more than happy to offer up their input in the potential coupling.

"Shoot your shot girl," commented one, while another said, "Drew out here just hitting us with the hard cold facts about this hottie."

This isn't the first time Drew's gushed over Leo - a 1997 interview on the set of Ever After saw her speaking highly of the Oscar-winning actor.

When discussing an Entertainment Weekly article that described DiCaprio and Barrymore as the 'new guard' of actors coming in, she replied: "Can you imagine being put in that company of Leonardo DiCaprio, mmmmm."

Her words, not ours.

The Charlie's Angels star is currently single after splitting with her third husband, actor Will Kopelman.

That said, obviously her comment is all in jest, as DiCaprio is linked to 24-year-old model Camila Morrone.

Barrymore is certainly a fan of the actor, though, having spoken about him earlier this year in a segment on The Drew Barrymore Show.

She said: "I've actually been to Leonardo DiCaprio's real home and he's so not self-indulgent.

"His taste is impeccable. His art collection is to die for and I think this is the cutest thing ever, but he doesn't live like that to my knowledge."
