Gavin And Stacey's Joanna Page Says There Should Be 'One More Special'

This is the news we want to see on a Sunday night, right?

After the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special aired we've all been waiting patiently to find out what's next on the agenda following that cliff hanger of a finale.

Now star of the show, Joanna Page, has said there should be 'one more special' but not a series. We can just about get on board with that.

BBC

Speaking to Fabulous, she said: "As a fan, surely they've got to do another one.

"I don't think we'd ever do another series because I don't think we could get everyone together for long enough, but I can't imagine they could leave it the way they did. One more special, then done."

The BBC has already confirmed that we can expect more from the show which was created by James Cordon and Ruth Jones who star as Smithy and Nessa.

The channel's Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore, dropped the news when she explained that a Christmas instalment of the fan-favourite show was never planned for 2020.

She explained: "That wasn't something that was going to happen this year," and followed that up with: "One day."

But Ruth Jones shut down reports of a return, admitting that there 'aren't any plans' to write new material...

Speaking to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on today's This Morning, Jones said: "There aren't any plans to write anything.

"Obviously James is in America and I'm in Wales. The joy of our last special is that if we never go back to Barry, we'll always wonder what happened next.

"I quite like leaving it hanging. I'm sorry I don't have any better news."

BBC

Understandably, many Gavin and Stacey fans were pretty gutted - especially after the cliffhanger last year's Christmas special left us on - with one tweeting: "BBC confirmed Gavin and Stacey is coming back and then Ruth Jones just said there's no plans to really playing with my heart here man."

Someone else wrote: "Ruth Jones..... No No No! We need another episode of #gavinandstacey as soon as possible..... please, please, please!"

A third added: "Vanessa Shanessa Jenkins has just confirmed on This Morning there isn't any plans for more Gavin and Stacey and it has absolutely ruined my Friday."
