If you're a Star Wars fan, then this is truly a beautiful sight to behold - George Lucas holding Baby Yoda.

If you're not a Star Wars fan, George Lucas is the creator of the fantasy space series and Baby Yoda is a character in the new spin-off TV series The Mandalorian, and everybody loves the latter because he's dead cute.

The show's creator, Jon Favreau, shared the snap on Instagram, where it has received more than 500,000 likes.

But if you're looking at this picture with a sense of sadness stemming from a burning desire to hold Baby Yoda yourself, then I have some good news - you can actually get your hands on your own Baby Yoda thanks to Build-a-Bear Workshop.

The company, which typically allows you to build your own bear, obviously, will be selling little stuffed versions of the hit character within the next few months.

Confirming the news at a conference in Orlando, Florida, Build-A-Bear CEO Sharon Price John said: "I'm excited to share we will be one of the first companies to provide the digital and internet phenomenon who is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined.

"We now will have The Child, also known as Baby Yoda.

"It's great, again, to be in business with best-in-class partners [Disney and Lucasfilm]."

Hasbro also unveiled its own Baby Yoda toys last month, which come with a small bone broth cup, ball toy and Sorgan frog.

Baby Yoda here, being cute.

US chain Target, has been taking pre-orders for the toys since late last year and you can snap one up for just $9.99 (£7.67).

What's more interesting is that Target is calling it The Child, instead of what everyone on the planet has been calling it: Baby Yoda. There's also a 'Poseable Action Figure', a plush toy, a Funko POP Figure and an array of other merch that will likely get your Mandalorian impulses pumping.

But don't hold your breath, as Target is listing them for release on 4 May - which everyone should know as Star Wars Day ('May the fourth be with you' and all that).

As we wait for both the toys and the Build-A-Bear newbies, we can all turn our attention to the lords who control the emojis that we use on our smartphones as there's a massive petition asking them to make a Baby Yoda one.

The change.org petition has more than 63,000 signatures and reads: "I think Baby Yoda should be an emoji. He stole our hearts and now I want him to steal our keyboard space."

Probably not the most worthwhile petition on that website, but hey.
