The news was announced on Tuesday

Baby Yoda has to be the single best thing to come out of 2019 - and now you can get an almost real-life version of your very own.

Second to actually having a Baby Yoda, the next best thing is to have a stuffed toy version of the adorable little fella, made famous by Star Wars TV spinoff The Mandalorian.

Kids' toy shop Build-a-Bear has announced that it will soon be releasing a stuffed toy version of the little green alien, and will now most likely be stormed by Star Wars fans and basically anyone who's ever laid eyes on the little creature. The store already has a range of toys based on the show.

Confirming the news at a conference in Orlando, Florida, Build-A-Bear CEO Sharon Price John said: "I'm excited to share we will be one of the first companies to provide the digital and internet phenomenon who is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined.

"We now will have The Child, also known as Baby Yoda."

She then held up a Baby Yoda to show the audience, saying it would be available in workshops in the next few months.

She continued: "It's great, again, to be in business with best-in-class partners," stating that Build-A-Bear, Disney and Lucasfilm worked quickly to make the Baby Yoda character happen, adding: "We started this process almost with the first episode."

Hasbro also unveiled its Baby Yoda toys which come with a small bone broth cup, ball toy, and Sorgan frog, in December.

US chain Target, has been taking pre-orders for the toys since late last year - you can snap one up for just $9.99 (£7.67).

What's more interesting is that Target is calling it The Child, instead of what everyone on the planet has been calling it: Baby Yoda. There's also a 'Poseable Action Figure', a plush toy, a Funko POP Figure and an array of other merch that will likely get your Mandalorian impulses pumping.

But don't hold your breath for these to come out any time soon as Target is listing them for release on May 4 - which everyone should know as Star Wars Day.

As we wait for both the toys and the Build-A-Bear newbies, we can all turn our attention to the lords who control the emojis that we use on our smartphones because there's a massive petition asking them to make a Baby Yoda one.

The change.org petition has over 63,000 signatures starts: "I think Baby Yoda should be an emoji. He stole our hearts and now I want him to steal our keyboard space."

The people have spoken, emoji gods.
