Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to start filming this year, James Gunn has confirmed.
The movie's writer/director was asked on Twitter when filming would start, to which he replied: "This year."
Sadly, he didn't give any further information on when exactly this year it will kick off, but at least we know it's on its way, eh?
Star Dave Bautista let slip back in December that filming was most likely due to start 'late' in 2021.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 52-year-old said he wasn't entirely sure how the film was going to pan out but that fans could expect filming to begin in the not-so distant future.
He said: "I believe it's okay to say that we will go into production late next year.
"I saw a script early on when we were all on schedule and James Gunn was attached before everything went nutso [Gunn was fired from production in 2018 after controversial historic tweets surfaced, before being reinstated the following year].
"I believe because [Marvel's] whole calendar has changed [due to the pandemic shutdown and Guardians' production delays], that storylines have changed, and they won't intersect like originally planned.
"Obviously, we lost Chadwick [Boseman], so I don't know where that leaves Black Panther. I haven't seen a new script, is the short answer."
Meanwhile, co-star Karen Gillan has previously said they've saved the best to the last, with the third instalment of the trilogy being the 'best' yet.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter all the way back in 2019, she said: "I don't know exactly [when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starts filming].
"I think it'll be in the next couple of years, but I've read [the script] and I think it's the best of the trilogy.
"I know that we're all really excited to have James Gunn back as our fearless leader.
"So we're all just really looking forward to getting back together."
Well, it seems as though you haven't got too long to wait, Karen.
