Shooting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 kicks off in November - meaning we can probably all officially start to get excited about it, yeah?

The good news was revealed by star Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the franchise, after numerous setbacks on production due to the pandemic.

He also revealed that there's plans for a 'holiday special' but admits that he's not yet seen the script for that - or for Guardians 3, for that matter.

Speaking to LADbible, the 51-year-old revealed: "I can tell you honestly that I've not read the script for Guardians 3, nor have I read the script for the holiday special.

"I believe it's changed from what it originally was. We were supposed to do Guardians 3 a long time ago, and we were gonna do the Christmas special then.

"I don't know if it's changed, I don't know what the new premise is, but even if I knew I just couldn't tell you - I would get in so much s***.

"I'm an honest person, I always want to give honest answers. A lot of times, the best way to be able to do that is to not read scripts - the less you know the better.

"I can tell you this: we're gonna start filming Guardians 3 in November this year, I believe it's gonna be a six-seven month shoot in Atlanta.

"I believe somewhere in that time, we're also gonna shoot the holiday special. But that's all I know... I'm going to play Drax, I know that."

Well, that's something at least, eh?

Elsewhere in the interview, Bautista said he feels 'comfortable' playing Drax having spent so long in the role.

"On Guardians 2, I realised that I know this character so well, I'm so comfortable with this character," he said.

"I never had to put much thought into it, I didn't even need to know my lines until the day [of shooting].

"I'm so comfortable in the role, and I'm so comfortable with the directors and actors I've worked with.

"I don't feel a sense of self-consciousness, I'm not afraid to let it all hang out]. It's a good place to be. It's a very self-conscious thing to go on and start acting, trying to bring these words off the page, there's a little insecurity and self-consciousness - but not with Drax."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas on 5 May 2023.
