Line of Duty fans have discovered an 'Easter egg' document via QR code in the new trailer. Watch it here:

The trailer for season six dropped yesterday (9 March) ahead of the show's return on 21 March, and it didn't take long for fans to realise there were a few leads hidden in there for them to sink their teeth into.

Just a couple of seconds in, a magazine featuring a QR code can be seen briefly. Some inquisitive little chickens decided to scan it, and lo and behold, it takes you to a document entitled 'Operation Easter Egg Hunt'.

It's written by Chief Constable Philip Osborne to DCC Andrea Wise and touches on the possibility of ousting Ted Hastings as leader of AC-12.

The letter also contains a link to a pharmacy prescription which contains within it Morse code, which in turn directs fans to a news report.

This news report features an algebraic equation and a link in the description, which leads to an address in Birmingham on Google Maps.

Fans have embarked on an Easter egg hunt ahead of the new series.

Basically, fans have been given excellent value for money with the trailer.

If you wanna don your detective hat then you can join a community of amateur sleuths on Reddit who are trying to piece together what it all means.

Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston are all set to return as Detective Inspector Kate Fleming, Superintendent Ted Hastings and Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott respectively in series six.

They will feature alongside Shalom Brune-Franklin, who plays DC Chloe Bishop, a new addition to the AC-12 team.

Kelly Macdonald will also debut as guest lead Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case whose suspicious conduct attracts the attention of Anti-Corruption.

Shooting wrapped in November, with creator Jed Mercurio paying tribute to the entire crew for their efforts amid the pandemic.

He said: "#LineofDuty6 We couldn't have done it without the dedication of cast, crew and supporting artistes to rigorous CoViD safety.

"Not a single day's filming lost, and 100+ colleagues finished the shoot in good health. We looked out for each other. We followed the science."

Line of Duty series six will begin on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday 21 March. Episodes will then air on a weekly basis on the channel and on iPlayer - and there will be seven instalments to enjoy this time around, making it the longest series yet.

Bring it on.
