DJ Khaled made an unexpected appearance at the Oscars, baffling the online community in the process.

Hosts Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall took to the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to present the 94th Academy Awards.

However, just moments after their opening jokes, the 46-year-old DJ/producer burst onto the stage in a ball of energy to 'introduce this the right way'.

"You know we the best, you know how we do it," he says, following a quick shout out to Will Smith who's sat in the audience.

It certainly made for an interesting start the show, with numerous people taking to Twitter to share their surprise.

One viewer wrote: "Dj Khaled jumpscare."

Another said, "Everyone looked annoyed when dj khaled came out."

A third joked: "Five seconds in and DJ Khaled has already ruined everything," while a fourth chimed in: "Everyone wondering why DJ Khaled is at the #Oscars."

Well, it wouldn't be the Oscars without a few surprises - we just weren't expecting them to arrive so soon.

Speaking of which, shortly after Schumer shocked the audience by roasting Leonardo DiCaprio.

The comedian was discussing the divisive Best Picture nomination for Netflix's climate crisis satire Don't Look Up, to which she said, "I guess the academy members don't look up reviews."

But she didn't end there, adding: "Leonardo DiCaprio, what can I say about him? He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends."

It's not the first time Leo's has faced a savage joke or two at an awards ceremony.

When Ricky Gervais was hosting the Golden Globes, he made an effort to slag off the Oscar-winner's relationship history.

"Leo DiCaprio attended the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and by the end, his date was too old for him," Gervais said.

"Even Prince Andrew is like, "Come on, mate'." Absolutely savage.
