Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Simpsons season 37
Another fan favourite of The Simpsons has been killed off after 35 seasons.
The long-running sitcom has been on our screens for longer than I've been alive (I'm 30), so it shouldn't really come as a shock when actors or characters reach the end of their journey.
More recently, The Simpsons creators had to come out and clarify that Marge Simpson has not been 'killed off', as her future fate was revealed. While Moe Szyslak's fate was also shown, the beloved bartender appears in the latest season alongside Marge.

But fans still find it sad when characters are booted off from the show, as season 37 episode 'Sashes to Sashes' saw the end of Alice Glick, the old lady and resident organist of the Church of Springfield.

According to Simpsons Wiki, she first appeared in season two episode 'Three Men and a Comic Book' when she hilariously gave Bart just fifty cents for a day of hard graft.
She joins the list of characters who are no longer in the series:
The original 'Fat Tony'

Everyone's favourite cartoon mobster Fat Tony (voiced by Joe Mantegna) suffered a heart attack in season 22 episode 'Donnie Fatso'.
The reason why you're still seeing him on screen is because his cousin, initially the much slimmer 'Fit Tony', put on so much weight that he is now identical to Fat Tony.
‘Bleeding Gums’ Murphy

OG The Simpsons fans will remember when Lisa's role model Bleeding Gums Murphy (voiced by Ron Taylor) died in season six.
The jazz musician was a mentor to the aspiring saxophone player and his death was intended to be a meaningful story arc to the character.
Although, he did randomly reappear in the angry mob scene of The Simpsons Movie 12 years later.
Mona Simpson

Another emotional moment was when Mona Simpson, Homer's mother, died of old age in season 19.
The character, who has been voiced by four actors, abandoned Homer when he was younger to escape from authorities.
She was on the run after destroying the biological warfare experiments of Mr Burns. Her death was confirmed in the episode 'Mona Leaves-a'.
Edna Krabappel

Bart's teacher Edna Krabappel was retired from The Simpsons when her voice actor Marcia Wallace died from pneumonia in 2013.
Her death was referenced when Ned Flanders wore a black armband after the pair got married in season 23.
Amber Simpson

You've got to be a bit of a fan to remember Homer and Abe Simpson's Las Vegas wife Amber (voiced by Pamela Hayden).
Season 10's 'Viva Ned Flanders' was truly a classic, although the morbid reason she died was from a drug overdose in a theme park.
Maude Flanders

Maude Flanders was brutally killed off from The Simpsons because her voice actror, Maggie Roswell, left the show over a salary dispute with the Fox network.
She eventually resigned and the character was 'accidentally' killed by a t-shirt cannon at a car race in the season 11 episode 'Alone Again, Natura-Diddily'.
Larry Dalrymple

Larry Dalrymple, the guy always sat at the bar, died of unspecified causes when he collapsed at his stool in Moe's Tavern.
His closest friends in Moe, Homer, Lenny, and Carl, go on a journey to scatter his ashes in episode 'Cremains of the Day'.
Co-executive producer Tim Long said the death was meant to show that 'even the most peripheral people in our lives have dignity and worth'.
Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky

Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky (voiced by Jackie Mason) died of old age in season 26 premiere 'Clown in the Dumps'.
While giving his son Krusty some career advice, he passed away mid-sentence. The character's death highlighted Krusty's complex relationship with his father.
Snowball (I-IV)
Snowball is dead, sort of (Fox)

Not to confuse you, but Snowball I, the Simpsons' first cat, is dead.
She died before the show's premiere and was replaced by Snowball II.
But where things get a bit complicated is knowing that the family has had several cats named Snowball since then.
And so the current cat is Snowball V, who is still referred to as Snowball II.
Beatrice Simmons

Beatrice 'Bea' Simmons (voiced by Audrey Meadows) was a resident of the Springfield Retirement Castle and Grampa's love interest in the season two episode 'Old Money'.
She brutally died from a burst ventricle, which was directly caused by a broken heart.
