The BBC has axed the second season of Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone after an investigation revealed a series of historic misogynistic tweets.
In the resurfaced tweets, which were unearthed by The Guardian, Cain used abusive terms and sexualised language, referring to women as ‘s**ts’, ‘s**gs’, and ‘psychos’.
He also made jokes about hitting women.
When the social media posts were first brought to the attention of the BBC, the broadcaster said it was taking the matter ‘seriously’ and removed planned repeats of season one of Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone from its schedules.

A second season of the documentary series has already been filmed, and Cain previously said on social media it would be ‘dropping this summer’.
However, the BBC has now decided not to go ahead with the broadcast and said it has no upcoming projects with Cain in the pipeline.
In a statement to The Sun, the BBC said: “The posts by Ashley Cain, albeit from many years ago, are completely unacceptable.
“The BBC has clear requirements around vetting and social media checks, which are undertaken by the production company. In this instance, the process clearly failed and we are investigating why.
“We are continuing to strengthen our processes to ensure everyone working for, and on behalf of, the BBC meets our values and standards.
“We have no plans to broadcast the new series of Into the Danger Zone, and no future projects with Ashley Cain.”

The Guardian’s investigation highlighted multiple tweets, including a post from 2015 in which he said he would ‘choke slam’ Love Island star Jessica Hayes ‘real quick’, and one from 2014, when he told another X to ‘go and choke on a c**k you s**t’.
The newspaper stated there were a dozen or so other similar tweets.
Since the historic tweets were brought to light, Cain’s X account has been removed from the platform entirely.
Cain began his career as a footballer before moving into reality TV when he appeared on MTV’s Ex on the Beach between 2014 and 2015.
Alongside his Into the Danger Zone series, Cain has also appeared on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and Celebrity Masterchef.
As well as his TV career, Cain is known for his fundraising work following the death of his daughter Azaylia, who tragically died at just eight-months old after being diagnosed with acute lyeloid leukaemia.
LADbible has reached out to representatives for Cain for comment.
