Top Gear is reportedly eyeing up a return next year, nearly three years on from being put on indefinite hold.
Once a staple of the BBC's original content, the motoring series ran into difficulties in its latter years.
In 2015, the show's 'Golden Era' came to an end when Jeremy Clarkson departed the show after the BBC decided against renewing his contract following a suspension, leading to his co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May leaving.
Following the trio's departure, Top Gear was hosted by a revolving door of famous faces - anyone remember the Matt LeBlanc era - until a serious crash involving Andrew Flintoff in 2022 saw the BBC halt production, and the show, for the 'foreseeable future'.

Since then, Top Gear's future has remained uncertain – until now.

Yesterday, The Sun reported that the BBC was eyeing up possibilities in which the series could be rebooted.
"BBC bosses are keen to revive Top Gear because they have never filled the space it left behind and so many viewers hanker after a motoring show," an insider claimed to the outlet.
"And it’s not just in Britain that the programme is much loved, it is a brand in its own right and watched by millions around the globe.
"Which is why it wasn’t just important to satisfy the needs of petrolheads, but also, specifically, fans of Top Gear. They’ll be thrilled to hear it is returning."
The source went on to claim that a search for presenters was underway and could make it back to our screens as soon as next year.
Has a Top Gear return been confirmed?
Before anyone gets too excited, the reboot rumours are yet to be confirmed by the broadcaster, with a BBC spokesperson telling LADbible there is 'no update' on the show at this time.

"The Top Gear brand continues to thrive across digital, publishing, and global formats," the spokesperson said.
"As a commercial producer, we’re always exploring new ways to develop the brand and reach audiences by leveraging such iconic IP – but there’s no update on the TV show at this time."
While we may be waiting a little longer for confirmation on the future of Top Gear, fans can look forward to a new series of Prime Video's The Grand Tour coming this year.
Created by Clarkson, Hammond and May after their departure from the BBC, the trio bowed out of presenting with 2024's 'One for the Road'.
However, the end of the trio's time presenting together does not mean the end of the show, as Clarkson confirmed they were handing the torch over to Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland.
