Britain's Got Talent viewers switched off over most 'disgusting' performance ever

You couldn't take your eyes off it

Britain's Got Talent returned to our telly earlier this year for its 18th season and there's certainly been plenty of talking points as the show reaches the semi-finals.

The changes in schedule, which mean that we see just one semi-final show each Saturday, have left some viewers baffled, with chaos onscreen too as one act was forced to withdraw at the last minute back in April.

We also saw one singer taken out of the audience before receiving the golden buzzer in a wild twist of fate, as the ITV show looks to draw back the viewing numbers with fresh ideas and judges, such as YouTube star KSI.

BGT has given us moments such as Susan Boyle's audition and the incredible dancing of Diversity in the past, but it seems not everyone agrees with some of the talent on show in this year's series.

Contestant Bao Cuong, 45, returned to the stage in the semi-finals with his sword swallowing act and left viewers scratching their heads for more than one reason with his dangerous act.

The performer first used his head to hammer a nail into place, before lifting a piece of wood with his eyelids. If that wasn't enough to impress the judges, he then swallowed weapons which were on fire, fully embracing the Chinese dragon decorations he had in the background.

In a final act, he then dragged Ant and Dec across the stage in a motorbike, which would have been impressive enough with his arms, but he again opted to use his eyelids for some reason.

Simon Cowell, who had previously left viewers concerned about his fashionable new red glasses, was clearly impressed with what he saw.

He said: "You look so normal and sweet and then you do these terrible things to yourself.

"It's very difficult to watch you do these terrible things to you, but at the same time, I loved it. It's like a horror movie that you don't wanna watch but do."

However, those watching from home were clearly not too happy about being subject to Cuong's performance, which in fairness, might not go down that well at the Royal Variety.

Taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - one viewer posted: "Make it stop man I can't even watch how disgusting."

A second said: "I find this act impossible to watch. How can this be classed as family entertainment … it's horrific."

"That’s just disgusting nothing entertaining about it at all," angrily stated a third fan.

A fourth wrote: "I don’t want to watch an act which is intrinsically dangerous. It could have gone horribly wrong."

And, spoiler alert, clearly the audience's vote didn't go Cuong's way, as he didn't make it through to the final, with dance act Ping Pong Pang and drag queen opera singer Jasmine Rice securing their spot instead.
