Dexter fans are all thinking the same thing as Michael C. Hall has confirmed that the show is set for yet another return.

The highly-rated crime drama originally ran from 2006 to 2013, followed by a seemingly successful reboot in 2021.

The programme follows the life of America's favourite serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) who, by day, is an officer for the Miami Metro Police Department.

As well as investigating murders in the homicide division, the blood pattern analyst also happens to kills murderers in his spare time.

Though after the final 2022 episode of the reboot, the serial killer appeared to be stone-cold dead.

Even creator Clyde Phillips confirmed that 'Dexter is dead', so how is there going to be another series?

To answer your question is the man himself, as Hall sat down for a chat with Variety.

With Dexter: Resurrection set to drop in the summer of 2025, he says the writers are going to pick up 'right where we left off'.

Asked about his return being 'confirmed', Hall said “Was it?

“I don’t know what I am authorised to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”

Talking about his character, he added: “There’s something about this world, something about this character that captivates people.

“It’s hard to say. I think there’s many different ways this show appeals to people as there are people who watch it.

“But I think maybe a biding thing is, in a world in which we feel a sense of being out of control people like spending time with a character who’s taking his own, unique control of his little corner of the world.

“I think we all have our shadow side that we contend with and Dexter’s is obviously a little weightier than most.

“People enjoy spending time with someone who is doing his best to take responsibility for that side in his sort of outside-the-box way and morally grey way.

“People, I think, relish the invitation to identify with someone who is contending with this much darkness, and maybe contending with it in a way that is arguably admirable — even though he’s doing what he’s doing.”

He also hasn't ruled out the idea of sister Deb (Jennifer Morgan) returning in the new series.

“Never say never. This world has sort of magical element, so I wouldn’t definitively say no to any proposition," he said.

“There’s a whole cast of characters that populate his wider world and have the potential to re-emerge.”

Season one to eight of Dexter is currently available to watch on UK Netflix.
