Several fans of Gogglebox turned last night's episode off after just minutes, despite being told they were getting a special 'new' episode.

For numerous TV fans, 9pm on Friday every week is blocked off to watch the iconic Channel 4 show.

Fully bringing in the weekend vibes, the show has a simple yet addictive premise: watching other people watch TV, while you yourself are watching them watch it.

Similar to the YouTube concept of 'reaction' videos, seeing people react to funny or shocking videos always seems to be an interesting watch, for some reason.

Viewers were naturally sad when season 21 of Gogglebox wrapped up on Saturday 24 May, with favourites on the show taking to social media to thank fans for their support.

Fan favourite couple Dave and Shirley Griffiths posted a farewell video last week, assuring the public that they would be returning for season 22 in September.

However, there was a pleasant surprise for fans as it was announced that there would be a 'new' episode airing on Friday 31 May.

Excitement built up online, with thousands of viewers tuning in to the show's typical 9pm slot to round the month out with one last bit of Gogglebox.

A lot of viewers were unaware though, that the episode was merely a 'special edition' that looked back at some of 'the best moments and best shows from the latest series'.

Fair to say then, that a lot of people were enraged with this, clicking off as quickly as they started watching, and taking to X to voice their frustrations at the highlights reel episode.

One viewer posted: "I didn't want to sit and watch the best bits of Gogglebox. I demand a refund and compensation."

Another asked: "Is this a repeat? Pretty sure they haven't watched The Apprentice this week.."

And a third wrote: "35 mins into #gogglebox before I realised it was a best of."

A different user said: "Switched #Gogglebox off because it's a roundup episode. Gutted".

As a fifth put: "Why is this a repeat??? It should be new, you have no excuse #Gogglebox had good TV this week"

Someone commented: "Switched #Gogglebox off bc it's a roundup episode. Gutted."

Not to worry though Gogglebox fans, as there is a new series coming soon and it will consist of new, fresh episodes.

Note down next Friday, 7 June, as that is when Celebrity Gogglebox is set to premiere on Channel 4.
