ITV has come under fire after I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! fans were left furious at a ‘disappointing’ detail about last night’s challenge.

The celebrity reality TV show has been met with a mixed reaction in the first few episodes, with some criticising the slightly lacklustre cast and others already loving the dynamics between the campmates this year.

Last night’s episode, which saw Alex Scott emotionally talk about her relationship with Jess Glynne and say she was going to marry her, has set social media ablaze for a very different reason.

During the episode Lisa Riley, Shona McGarty, Jack Osbourne, and Eddie Kadi, took on the ‘dark room challenge’ in which they tried to win pictures of their family and friends.

This saw the group searching through pictures in the dark whilst having bugs and critters showered over them – though I'm A Celeb fans noticed a specific detail about the challenge.

Fans took to social media last night furious after spotting pictures in the dark room challenge they felt were generated by artificial intelligence.

While AI is becoming more normalised in TV and films, many push back on this, pointing out that every use of AI takes away a job that could have been done by a real person.

One Reddit post on the subject went viral last night saying: “Seeing AI generated images is disappointing.

“I know it probably doesn't seem like a huge deal - but as a graphic designer seeing the photos in the challenge (random scary photos to be developed) be AI generated is so disappointing.”

One popular comment on the thread agreed, saying: “It’s incredibly poor and lazy from ITV.

"Disgusting how AI is being used to do work that actual people should be doing.”

Another viewer chimed in to agree, saying: “I agree, there’s absolutely no way they didn’t have the budget to pay an actual designer. It’s just lazy.”

Over on X fans were equally furious, with one viewer tweeting: “They’re using AI photos on I'm a Celeb how disappointing.”

The criticism was overwhelming but not unanimous, with one comment saying: “I noticed it and usually anti-AI, but honestly, it didn't really bother me.

“I think the Coca Cola ad using AI is disgusting, considering how f**king wealthy they are.

“But they were just little photos hung up for a mini-challenge and not like a major impact, such as a trial.

“The one I recall was a rat standing on a pie. What's the alternative? Using a real rat? Using cartoon drawings of a rat and a pie?”

Others however hit back, pointing out that a graphic designer could ‘create that image seamlessly’.

ITV declined to comment.
