Six former I'm A Celebrity campmates have died since appearing on the show.

The survival reality TV series kicked off in 2002, and has since been one of ITV's most popular programmes.

Throughout the years, the format has largely stayed the same, as celebrities are put in the jungle with extreme living conditions.

All 24 series, apart from one, has been filmed in Australia and Ant and Dec have presented every episode together, bar season 2018.

443 episodes later, however, a number of I'm A Celeb contestants have sadly passed away.

A statement from her children read: "In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour. In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies. In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others."

Those who watched the first-ever season of the ITV show would have seen Tara Palmer-Tomkinson falling just short of missing out on the big prize.

Sadly, the reality star died in 2016 at the age of 45.

The cause of her death was later put down to peritonitis and a perforated ulcer, according to her sister.

David Gest joined up with his campmates in 2006 and finished in fourth place.

The American film producer died in 2016 after suffering a heart attack at a hotel in London, aged 62.

His I'm a Celebrity co-star Dean Gaffney said at the time: "Never have I lost a best friend before and this pain hurts harder than anything I've ever experienced. RIP David Gest, I love you brother."

The darts world champion faced the jungle in 2012 and was close to reaching the final three.

Coming in at fourth, he told Ant and Dec: "I had a great time but I would have liked to make the last three. I would have liked to have a go at the grubs for my kids."

He passed away from a heart attack at the age of 60 in 2019.

Darts player Bobby George recalled: "In the afternoon, I was doing a show at a pub opposite the Premier League (darts) building, and he just came in, said, 'Hello' and had a pint, then said, 'See ya', I said, 'See ya' because I was working... he went across the road, and two-and-a-half hours later, he was gone."
