Brits demand Michael Barrymore returns to TV following 'car crash' This Morning interview

Brits demand Michael Barrymore returns to TV following 'car crash' This Morning interview

Michael Barrymore took to the This Morning couch to discuss his return to the theatre

Michael Barrymore fans want him back on TV after his 'car crash' of an interview on This Morning.

Viewers of the ITV show were shown an absolute masterclass in how to completely disrupt a live, televised interview.

On Thursday's (3 August) This Morning episode, former game show presenter Barrymore took to the sofa to discuss his return to the theatre with Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

And as I'm sure you are aware, Phillip Schofield left ITV after it came out he'd had an affair with a younger employee and Holly Willoughby went and took a break.

The likes of Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond have stepped in to cover the daytime talk show and it seems Gibson and Doyle are now doing the same.

But the awkwardness came when 71-year-old Barrymore didn't have a clue who the hosts were.

He said: "I thought it was Alison and the other one. Who are you two? Who are they?

"I know the names of all the cameraman but I don't know you two."

For context, Gibson won the eleventh series of Big Brother in 2010 and Doyle is a radio presenter.

Barrymore continued later on in the show, saying: "Alison your accent has changed!

"I wasn't told these two were on. What the hell's going on? I just walked in..."

Barrymore then impersonated Craig's Irish accent, despite Gibson telling him it's their 'turn' to speak now.

They all spoke over one another, it was chaotic, and some viewers were not having any of it.

One Twitter user said: "I was never a fan of Michael Barrymore. I always felt he was laughing at, or taking the p**s out of people on his shows. And clearly now I can see absolutely no reason why he should be on our screens at all."

Another added: "This Michael Barrymore interview is deeply disturbing."

While a third commented: "Michael Barrymore making fun of accents. Cheap childish dated humour."

Gibson and Doyle managed the interview pretty well considering the chaotic circumstances.

However, other viewers thought Barrymore's chaotic performance made them realise how much they've missed him on TV.

"Michael Barrymore you are my favourite to presenter/entertainer we need you back on Saturday night TV it’s not been the same without you," one fan wrote.

"Someone get this man a TV show ASAP!! You are highly missed, Michael!!" a second added.

"Welcome back Michael Barrymore 🥰 you deserve to be on our screens 🥰 you are a legend ❤️and my favourite," chimed a third.

"No get back on TV. Your own show again," another demanded.

"Watched you on This Morning great to see you bk on TV bring bk the Barrymore show xxx," someone else echoed.

LADbible contacted Michael Barrymore's representatives for comment.
