Naked Attraction has finally aired in the US and Americans can't believe what they're seeing

One of the most unusual TV shows that we have in the UK has now been successfully imported out to the USA, and they honestly can’t really decide what to make of it.

We have a long history of sharing shows across the Atlantic, with varying degrees of success.

For every show like The Office or Shameless, there’s one like The Inbetweeners that just hasn’t been able to translate across the pond.

On this instance, it’s not a matter of culture shock or humour failing to translate, it’s that the show is decidedly weird wherever you want to watch it.

Naked Attraction is a bit of a phenomenon over here, with millions tuning in out of sheer morbid curiosity, wanting to see some people’s bits.

That’s the whole premise, in case you’ve never seen the show.

Contestants come on and are confronted by obscured figures in coloured tubes, who have parts of their body revealed from the feet up as they are eliminated one by one, leaving the last one standing to go on a date.

That means that the first thing you see is their private parts, and the last thing is their face.

By that point, the contestant – who is choosing a date – has also been made to strip all of their clothes off as well, just to keep everything equal.

The show in the UK - which is now being tested out in the United States - has been hosted by Anna Richardson since it started in 2016, and is now into a seventh season, having garnered a bunch of avid viewers and fans.

As with other successful shows, they’ve decided to send it over to the USA, and – obviously – it’s caused a bit of a stir.

One member of the US audience said: “Whatever else I do in this life, at least I didn’t invent [Naked Attraction],”

That person added that the show, once seen, ‘cannot be unseen’.

Another person said: “And I thought Tinder was shallow! Yikes!”

However, it does seem that some of the main appeal of the show has been able to make it across the ocean.

“I’m watching Naked Attraction and let me just say… UK people, y’all really are trashy like the rest of us,” one viewer remarked.

Yeah, that is sort of the idea behind it.

“Y’all Naked Attraction is on Max now. Been watching nuts and butts for two hours!” said another newly-converted fan.

Given the shocking nature of the show, you wouldn’t back against it being a great success once people in the USA catch on to what is happening.
