What’s Christmas Day without a bit of family competition? A quick quiz to get the energy back up after dinner or a game of Monopoly to end the year on an argument never goes amiss.
And to mark the occasion, The 1% Club always releases a special festive question to give fans something to scratch their heads over during the holidays.
Except this year, not everyone is so sure it’s one they even needed to think twice about, as they’ve slammed the Christmas question - a common habit for the fans, really.
ITV aired a whole themed episode of the popular quiz show as fans sat around to shout the answers (wrong or right) at their TVs last night (25 December). Plus, to get even more people riled up, the official account shared the crucial one per cent question on social media.

The Christmas question
So, for those unfamiliar, the Lee Mack-hosted show challenges 100 members of the public to put their logic, common sense and intelligence to the test.
And then once they’ve worked through the several levels of questions (usually losing a fair few contestants along the way), whoever is left that correctly answers the question, which only one per cent of the nation got right, wins a share of up to £100,000.
So that’s the category of question the official account shared on X last night as it wrote: “And here is your Christmas Special 1% question. Drop a like if you've got this one.”
Let’s crack into it: “In the words below, which animal appears twice before a mouse does?
“‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
“Not a creator was stirring, not even a mouse.”

Only two of the remaining four contestants on the show got the answer correct, but it seems far more online cracked it. I mean, it is far easier when you’re sat at home than on a TV studio set with lights everywhere.
But the answer was ‘hen’, with that word appearing at the end of the first ‘the’ and beginning of ‘night’ and then again in the word ‘when’.
Fans’ complaint
While it’s all just a bit of fun and games, and you know, in the festive spirit we should all be a bit more forgiving and generous and all that, not everyone is convinced by the one per cent question.
“Not to be a nerd but this was ridiculously f**king easy for the 1% question,” one user slammed.

“That can’t be a 1% question,” another put.
As others said: “That’s never a 1% question? That’s far too easy.”
But while some said it was a ‘bit of an easy one’ and that they got hen ‘immediately’, some put: “3 minutes and with the missus giving me a hint (‘it's a bird’). I had no chance.”
While one also wrote: “That was hard! I didn’t get it this time!”
