It’s some cushty news for Only Fools and Horses Fans as there’s about to be a lovely jubbly return.

The iconic British sitcom originally aired from 1981 to 1991 with many Christmas specials running until the show ended in 2003.

And now, over two decades later, Sir David Jason is going to return as Del Boy for a one-off special.

The total national treasure previously told Radio Times about how much he would ‘love’ to do more Only Fools and Horses episodes, but noted that he didn’t think it would be possible without the ‘brains behind it’.

The show’s creator and writer John Sullivan died in 2011 and there’s no guarantee it will truly return.

However, Jason’s character is going to be cropping up on our screens for a special episode of the new series of Car SOS.

Host Tim Shaw told the Daily Star: “David was a special guest on an episode and I managed to persuade him to do Del Boy again. It’s a sketch that I think will surprise people.

"It was one of the highlights of my life. It’s something I never thought would happen. When was the last time we saw David playing Del Boy? I can’t remember. So, it was absolutely surreal."

Shaw said himself it was something he ‘never thought would happen’ and added that it was ‘surreal’ to see the actor as Del Boy in real life.

Jason previously mentioned in an interview that he does find himself ‘morphing’ into the character sometimes to ‘make people laugh’.

Working on the skit for Car SOS apparently would just ‘drop straight into’ his character as he sold car parts on eBay.

A source also told the Daily Star: “David is going to be a special guest on the new series. It’s a big deal to have him on the show because he’s such a legend. Producers were absolutely thrilled when he agreed to take part."

The Only Fools and Horses legend has recently been appearing in David and Jay’s Touring Toolshed with Jay Blades.

While promoting the show, he spoke to RadioTimes about any possible revival of the iconic sitcom: “I’ve had offers over the years, but without John Sullivan it just wouldn’t work. He was a magician and could whip up humour out of virtually nothing – that was his genius. Without him, I don’t see it working, sadly."

Jason, or should I say Del Boy, will appear in the new series of Car SOS which begins on National Geographic on 7 March.
