A man who threw up after being told to let his partner sleep with someone else has responded to Channel 4 airing the clip where the pair go through with it.

The controversy has come off the back of the show Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, a Channel 4 series that has spawned numerous shocking moments.

Whether it be a woman overhearing her partner having a multi-women orgy or childhood sweethearts trialling a threesome, the series is not new to controversy.

The show involves couples joining a house of sexually liberated polyamorous people to try and aid them in opening up their relationship.

Similarly to Channel 4’s Virgin Island, they have therapists who talk the couples through their issues and sometimes offer suggestions for how they should proceed in the house.

Each season focuses on several couples, with one in particular making headlines: Tom and Lauren.

Whilst the two are both open to trying an open relationship, Lauren is shown to be the one pushing this, saying: "It was my idea. It was my idea from the start."

Tom ends up being the first to try it, having sex with another woman.

Their non-monogamy coach, Effy Blue, suggests that they engage in a couple swap where Lauren and Tom have sex with another male-female couple, and in the process, Lauren has sex with another man.

To say Tom doesn't love the idea at first is entirely fair – he actually throws up at the idea of it.

The pair have posted to Instagram, however, issuing a stark reminder to those watching the show not to trust everything shown.

They said: "Thank you everyone for all your support so far, our next episode is out next Friday 10pm, remember please be kind, we went on there to be open & honest and are both very happy together, remember they cut so much out for the drama."

Despite being shown to throw up in the preview of this week’s episode, shown the week before, Tom and Lauren do end up going through with it.

The pair end up swapping with another couple, each going off to separate rooms and having sex – something shown in fairly graphic detail by Channel 4.

Speaking afterwards, the pair celebrate, with Tom saying: “As you can tell by the smile on my face, happy ending.

“Don’t know what happened, it just felt right.”

He excitedly exclaims that he is ‘a new person’ and overcomes his fear of taking his shirt off on camera for the first time in the show during the couple swap.
