Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway viewers issue same complaint over Take That performance

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway viewers issue same complaint over Take That performance

Take That were on the Takeaway stage to close things out.

Take That were the closing act for yesterday's episode of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, but not everyone was happy with how things wrapped up.

There's only one week to go before the finale of series number 20 of the ITV show, which has been on our screens for almost 22 years.

We know how this goes by now - you stick Ant and Dec in a studio with an audience, sprinkle in some games and segments like Win the Ads, and then wrap it all up with an End of the Show Show where the presenters and a musical act close things out.

In fact, Ant and Dec know this particular dance so well that they're 'resting the format' for a while after next week's series finale.

They've both said in the past that they'd like to spend a bit more time with their kids and think about the next stage of their careers.

Sadly, it seems as though Take That's performance didn't go down quite so well with some members of the audience watching at home last night (6 April).

Some folks said they were 'super disappointed by that End of the Show Show', complaining of a 'low effort' from the band and slating it as the 'dullest ever'.

Take That really seemed to be a bee in some people's bonnets as the band's performance on Saturday Night Takeaway was slated as 'awful', while others called the band out for what they actually performed.

A few took to social media to say the band should have been 'singing a medley' and thought they were 'just there to promote' their upcoming tour instead.

Instead of singing one of the older songs everyone knew, the band opted to perform a new tune, which turned out to be a pretty divisive move.

While some viewers were 'not feeling this new song', others thought it was 'basically a love letter to the fans' and pointed towards Take That's tour being pretty much 'sold out', so clearly they've still got a honking massive audience.

Other more positive voices said they 'love the new song' and it had got them 'excited for the tour now', so even if you can't be everyone's cup of tea you can still bring joy to plenty of folks.

One bloke said the backlash was 'just a bunch of sour people pooping on the party' and said that while he did 'expect more of a show' he could always count on Take That to 'deliver the goodies'.

Amidst all the responses and reactions, there was one Take That fan who took the opportunity to reconnect with an old pen pal from the 90s who she saw in the Saturday Night Takeaway audience.

See, this is what the internet is supposed to be for.
