Sofia Vergara awkwardly tells Kelly Clarkson to 'shut up' over her honest thoughts about Griselda transformation

Have you ever tried paying someone a compliment but ended up putting your foot in it?

Well, you're not alone, as Kelly Clarkson managed to mess up her attempt at flattery while interviewing Sofia Vergara, one of the most beautiful women in the world.

We all know the Colombian-American actor is drop-dead gorgeous, but the singer's comments towards her transformation into drug lord Griselda Blanc for the upcoming Netflix series Griselda were only 'slight' and will only end one way.

Vergara, 51, appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote the new series, which will be released worldwide on the streaming platform today (25 January), when discussion turned to the makeover, which made her into the fearsome Queenpin.

With nicknames like the 'Black Widow' and 'The Cocaine Godmother', best believe Blanco wasn't to be messed with.

Speaking of her role on The Graham Norton Show at the start of the month, Vergara said: "It is a true story of a woman that no one ever suspected of being one of the biggest drug dealers ever.

"She created an insane cartel, and I went crazy for the story. She was Colombian, an immigrant, and a very tough ruthless woman. She was a monster. "It was the role for me."

Vergara looks a lot different in Griselda - as she had to wear layers and layers of makeup, prosthetics, wigs and fake teeth to look like the legendary crime boss.

Looking at footage of the transformation process, Clarkson said to her guest: "This is incredible… I feel like they only changed your nose or something... I don't know what they did."

The comment visibly stung the Modern Family star, who replied in shock: "What? Are you crazy?"

Clarkson then really started to dig herself a hole as she tried to backtrack on what she said, adding: "No, I'm saying like whatever they did though, it looks slight, it doesn't look..."

Again, she was interrupted by her disgruntled guest, who informed her the transformation had taken 'hours' to complete.

The Since You've Been Gone singer attempted to salvage the conversation as she tried to smooth things with Vergara.

She said: "It probably took time, but the slight change completely changed your being."

By this point, Vergara had had enough and snapped: "It was a wig! Shut up! It was wig. It was a lot, they did a lot to me! It was teeth. It was wig. It was nose. It was plastic from here to here!"

The pair laughed through it together, along with the studio audience, but viewers could tell Vergara had heard enough.

But Clarkson just couldn't put a sock in it and continued: "What I'm saying is it looks like they did such a good job that it looks seamless.

"You just look like a different person. You literally look like you could be this person in other movies. You could have two careers.

"You look like you're a different actress."

Keen to get the topic of conversation over with, Vergara said: " She looks real, right? That is exactly what I wanted, that reaction."

I'll bet she did.
