Who Wants to Be a Millionaire fans tuned in to a bit of a weird episode over the weekend.

The celebrity edition of the show saw Jools Holland, Nina Wadia and Ugo Monye feature in a bid to earn money for charity.

However, fans were left baffled after the music legend, 66, smashed through two lifelines within the first five questions.

On the fourth £500 question he was asked: "In March 2020, who began hosting online fitness workouts for children under the title 'P.E. with Joe'?"

That's when he opted to use the 'ask the audience' lifeline to correctly identify the fitness influencer's name 'Joe Wicks'.

Then with the £1,000 question, the pianist was asked what Alfred Hitchcock's tagline from the infamous shower scene in Psycho is.

After using the 'phone a friend', he landed on: "Check in. Unpack. Relax. Take a shower."

Attempting to settle in to the show, the music legend was finally asked a music question, this time about The Spice Girls.

"The maiden name of which Spice Girl was also the name of two US presidents?" host Jeremy Clarkson asked him.

Despite appearing in the SpiceWorld The Movie, he still seemed unsure.

The Grand Tour presenter then worked with him to reveal the answer, admitting that sitting in the chair often 'turns your brain to mush'.

Fans were less than impressed over on social media as one tweeted: "What the hell is Jools Holland doing on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Two lifelines to get to one grand?"

Someone else thought: "Jools Holland might be the worst contestant in Millionaire history. Two lifelines on the first 5 questions. His chosen charity must DESPISE him."

Meanwhile, others will a little more sympathetic, as a third penned: "I love Jools Holland but frickin eck, if you have to call a friend to answer the question about what Psycho is about, Who wants to be a millionaire is not for you."

"Jools Holland showing that he was the wrong choice for Celebrity Who wants to be a millionaire, sadly," a fourth wrote.

"Not only has Jools been deceiving us for years with a ‘live’ Hootenanny, he also doesn’t know a lot about anything," another joked.

As a sixth added: "Got nothing but respect for Jools Holland not knowing who Joe Wicks or Joe Swash are, but that Psycho phone a friend is a bit embarrassing."
