A Lot Of Brits Don't Know Who Princess Eugenie Is And Why Her Wedding Is A Big Deal

If you tuned in to the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank you may have noticed a couple of things: first of all there were a lot of fascinators flying around in the wind, the BBC mistakenly complimented the bride's 'beautiful breasts', and Robbie Williams couldn't find anywhere discard his chewing gum.

If you didn't notice any of those things it might be because you were a little more concerned about figuring out who the hell Princess Eugenie is. Don't worry, you're not alone.

The ninth in line to the throne turned up with the her granny's emerald tiara on her head and her afternoon reception in an Aston Martin. But not just any Aston Martin, James Bond's DB10 Aston Martin.

People have been less impressed by the spectacle and more troubled by the fact that they have no idea who she is...

Someone politely asked: "Sorry, but who is Princess Eugenie?" At least that person had the courtesy to apologise before quizzing.

Another said: "Who the fuck is Princess Eugenie? Is she the one from Mario Kart that no one chooses to play as?" Does this joker mean Princess Peach? I believe he may.

It was a wedding that reportedly cost the taxpayer £2 million ($2.63m) and that's just for security. Everything else is paid for by the Royal Family - and here's the rest of us saving up for years, getting credit cards and maybe even just not bothering at all.

Princess Eugenie of York is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. Basically, her grandma is the Queen - casual as that.

The happy couple said their vows at St George's Chapel in Windsor - the same place where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed back in May.

In comparison to today's nuptials, their wedding had an estimated policing cost of 'between £2m and £4m' and that's nothing in relation to Prince William and Kate Middleton's which cost the Met Police £6.53m.

According to the Evening Standard, Thames Valley Police will foot the cost, after the wedding is over they are allowed to apply for a "special grant." This grant allows them to reclaim some of the money that was spent on policing.
