Quiz shows are filled with danger; one false slip and you become a viral sensation, and not for the right reasons

Quiz shows are filled with danger; one false slip and you become a viral sensation, and not for the right reasons. Just ask this chap:

Sean appeared on the US version of the The Weakest Link recently, joining a handful of other contestants vying for a huge cash prize.

However, one question really caught him out, and it's had people in stitches online.

In a clip that has now been shared widely on social media, presenter and former Glee star Jane Lynch asks: "Martin Scorsese has nine Oscar nominations for directing, but his only win was for what movie?"

Plenty of film buffs out there will know that the answer is in fact 2006 crime thriller The Departed.

Sadly, however, the moment got the better of poor old Sean, and instead he says he's not very good at films and replies: "I’m going to have to guess and say 8 Mile."

Sean was unlucky with his question.

After being informed that that's not the answer she was looking for, Sean then says: "Good to know."

Since it was shared online, it has been viewed thousands of times, with people really feeling for Sean.

One person said: "This is one of the funniest wrong answers ever."

Another quipped: "Scorsese’s known for movies about organised crime syndicates. One of the most well known organised crime syndicates Scorsese’s made movies about is the Italian Mafia. Italians like spaghetti. Eminem raps about mom’s spaghetti in ‘8 mile’. It all makes sense."

"Whattttttttttt this has to be staged I don’t wanna believe this," put a third.

Another added: "Just imagine if Scorsese had directed 8 mile...," to which someone replied: "It would have been eight hours."

Anne Robinson had a sharp tongue during her time on the show.

Sean's just lucky he wasn't on the British version of the show with Anne Robinson back in the day – he would have been torn a new one.

Following a number of clips resurfacing from her time on the show, most of which involve her being pretty nasty to the contestants, Anne said the show couldn't get made today.

She said: "I wasn't exactly drowning kittens. But I would never get away with all that now. Times have changed so much that I don't think we could even make the The Weakest Link today.

"I don't think half the things I said then I could say now."

Drowning kittens is a very low benchmark, but I take your point, Anne.
