You might have seen the new viral challenge going around on TikTok where people - usually women - stand in a doorway in underwear while a dark red filter highlights their silhouette.

The videos have been circulating as part of the #silhouettechallenge but many are now being warned to avoid them as the filter which hides most of their modesty can be removed.

Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans took part.

The videos begin with the subject usually wearing comfy/unsexy clothing before turning off the lights and stripping down so that the next shot shows them in a dimly lit doorway.

According to The Sun, people have started to discover YouTube tutorials where you're shown how to remove the filter.

One person issuing the warning is Kai Lee, a photographer who runs a TikTok account called lostvsnryshots. She urged people to think twice before removing their clothing.

She explained: "I keep seeing the Silhouette Challenge on my For You page, and even though they're all really cute and creative and y'all look bomb in them, just make sure you're being cognisant of what you're wearing before you actually do all the editing for the final product.

The photographer warned users about using the filter.

"Because anyone can easily take those images and revert them back to the original.

"So if you're wearing a bra and panties, or if you're nude, or whatever you did before you applied the editing to create that shadow look, just know that it's really easy to just put it back to the original."

Taking to Twitter, EJ Dickson who is a culture writer for Rolling Stone wrote: "Obviously not linking, but there are videos all over YouTube offering tutorials for how to 'remove' the red filter for TikTok's Silhouette Challenge, in which women dance nude or partially nude in silhouette.

"This is a huge consent violation and @YouTube should remove them ASAP."

In agreement, someone added: "I can't believe I have to explain this: anyone participating in this challenge only consented to show what they chose to show. They did not consent to gross a**holes violating them and then teaching other gross a**holes to do the same."
