A video of a balding man who received a state-of-the-art hair system has gone viral on TikTok, with some people claiming that the procedure has made him look ten years younger. Check it out below:
In the viral TikTok clip from @novocabelohair, which has been viewed over 800k times and racked up almost 38k likes since it was posted just over a week ago, a balding 39-year-old man named Graham with thin, greying hair is seen getting given the makeover of a lifetime as he makes his way down to the Ruma Hair Salon in Southport.
"He wanted to know if a hair system would knock some years off," the on-screen caption reads, as a crack team of stylists prepare his scalp for the job at hand.
And what's a hair system, I hear you ask?
Well, in layman's terms it's a high-quality hairpiece that's kind of like a cross between a wig and a hair transplant. The piece is custom-made out of real hair and tailored to the exact specifications of the customer in order to achieve the perfect blend of hair colour, density and texture.
It's generally seen as the ideal non-surgical solution to male hair loss and has been growing rapidly in popularity in recent years.
Back at the salon, after getting Graham's measurements the stylist can then be seen glueing a custom-made hairpiece onto Graham's head that has been colour-matched to perfectly blend in with his natural shade of head hair.
"First we colour matched his hair and applied the poly skin base with a glue adhesive then started to snip his new hair into a style," the video added.
"Graham wanted a low maintenance style he could manage easily. I wonder how many years we will take off?"
The transformation is certainly something, but exactly how many years younger Graham looks as a result of it is up for debate, with viewers divided between thinking that he looks over a decade younger and others claiming that he should just embrace his baldness and age naturally instead.
One user claimed that "he looked 49 before I'd say 39 now but it's amazing what hair does. Crazy transformation!"
Another agreed that "we should normalize men getting hair systems, he looks so much happier!"
Others were more sceptical, though.
"Why have people started calling wigs a hair system?" one person claimed, "It's knocked a few years off but there's no shame in being bald either. Do whatever works for you."
Although the hair system looks very realistic it does come at a price, with a previous video by Novo Cabelo stating men 'shouldn't pay more than £500' to get one installed.
Not cheap by any stretch, but certainly a lot more affordable than paying for hair grafts, which can sometimes cost up to £30,000 depending on the type of work required.
Regardless of your own personal views re: Graham and baldness, I think we can all agree he looks much happier as a result and isn't that what's really important?
