The first trailer for horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has dropped, showing the titular bear is a far cry from Disney's friendly cartoon... And is instead out for vengeance. Watch the trailer here:

Yup, everyone's favourite bear has left the 100 Acre Wood for a foray into the horror genre, having become the twisted villain in the latest independent flick from director Rhys Frake-Waterfield.

"The beloved childhood characters have been abandoned by Christopher Robin and have turned wild," the trailer tells us ominously.

It begins with a grown-up Christopher Robin driving his future wife to the woodlands he spent his childhood in, saying Mary is the first person he's ever taken there - d'aaaw.

Christopher calls out to his old pals, believing that his 'friends for many years' are 'out there' somewhere, but it soon becomes clear that a few things have changed - and not for the better.

After clocking a skull and Eeyore's grave, Mary begs Christopher to leave, but her cardigan-clad lover is adamant that he must find his animal crew and puts his foot down.

Eeyore's no more.

Unsurprisingly, this turns out to be a baaaad idea, as Winnie the Pooh suddenly pops up to cause all-out havoc - including terrorising a group of female friends at a remote house in the forest, jumping up on someone in a jacuzzi before lopping someone's head off with a long-handled mallet as they try to escape in the swimming pool.

Doesn't look like it's going to be a relaxing retreat for these guys.

We later hear Christopher beg: "We used to be friends. Why are you doing this, please? I would have never left, I swear."

It turns out that Pooh and Piglet have actually eaten Eeyore after being abandoned by Christopher, who they're still harbouring a lot of bitterness towards.

A blood-spattered Winnie the Pooh.

Frake-Waterfield previously told Dread Central of the plot: "Pooh and Piglet experience a drastic drop in food as Christopher grew up. Over the years they became increasingly hungry and feral. They had to resort to eating Eeyore.

"Then Christopher returns with his wife to introduce her to his old friends. And when that happens, they get enraged when they see them.

Piglet's out for revenge, too.

"All of the hatred they’ve built up over the years unleashes and then they go on this rampage. That continues when they end up at this rural house with these girls."

While there's still no official release date, according to the trailer, the film is 'coming soon' to DVD and video-on-demand worldwide.
