A woman has become engaged to a man who lives on the other side of the world to her, who initially failed to mention he'd already been married and lied about his age.

Obviously, there’s plenty to be going on with there, but you can catch the whole story on Discovery+ show 90 Day Fiancé UK.

Victoria, 31, reckons that Shaun, a man she met online who lives in Japan, is the one for her, but her mate – for reasons that you might already have twigged – isn’t necessarily so sure.

Victoria lives in Wolverhampton, but bonded with Shaun over interests such as Pokémon Go.

Victoria is very keen on Shaun.

However, after learning that Shaun had lied about his age and didn’t tell her that he'd already been married, her friend Rosie started to have misgivings.

Victoria explained: "I love Japan and Japanese culture.

“I genuinely don't know how it started; it just crept up on me and there it was.

"There is no Japanese scene in Wolverhampton.

“Wolverhampton is a bit boring.

“I have visited Japan twice with my friend Libby. It’s perfect!

"Shaun is my boyfriend, we met online. He is from Japan.

“There’s a certain type of Japanese man that I am quite attracted to. I quite like the way they dress.

"Shaun’s profile picture was a very suave-looking guy, sunglasses on, sort of looking into the distance. He looked quite cute and young.”

Here's Shaun's profile picture.

Here comes the first red flag.

Victoria continued: "Then I found out it was quite an old picture. He said he took it in 2018. Whatever! I thought Shaun was a similar age to me, 31, 32. Turns out he’s actually 42.

"Shaun didn’t lie to me about his age, he just wouldn’t tell me his age."

Still seems a bit strange.

Victoria added: "I did find out one extra thing a while ago – that he used to be married.

"He’s not married in Japan, that’s all he will say – ‘I am divorced in Japan.’ I know that his ex-wife is from another country."

The pair met two years ago, getting more involved with each other quickly.

"Shaun is definitely a man of mystery. He’s open, but he just gives you enough information to be interested, but he won’t actually tell you the full story,” Victoria continued.

The pair have now met.

"It was just the odd message every other day, now it’s more like four hours a day! Shaun is so important to me now, he is that extra voice in my pocket."

As for Rosie, she said: "I might have been reading and watching a bit too much real crime, but you do always need to be careful.”

She believes that Shaun might be after a passport, although obviously we can’t say one way or the other.

Rosie continued: "I’ll be the friend who is looking out for her and making sure she’s okay, and I won’t say ‘I told you so’ if it all turns sour, because it can happen to anyone."

If you want to find out what happened, you can watch 90 Day Fiancé UK exclusively on Discovery+ with new episodes streaming each Sunday.
