If you've ever thought your nan wasn't cool... well, buckle up for the hippest grannies this side of the Victorian border. The local bowlo can be the heart and soul of a community; it provides cheap beers, decent food, and an activity that young and old can play for hours.

So it's no wonder that there's uproar in Chadstone, Melbourne, because the local bowling club could soon be no more.

But members aren't going down without a fight - they've banded together to produce this soul-inspiring, heart-melting, smile-inducing video to try and save their bowlo.

Terry Foster, 82, Janine Hall, 82, and Wyn Hewett, 72, have shown that age is just a number and that older ladies can still dispense sass. With lyrics like, 'Cause we're bowlers and you can't take this away from us', and 'we love our club we've had enough, we're doing our bowling thing', it's sure to get Stonnington City Council's attention.

Even the local lads were a part of the production.

The Facebook video has been viewed more than a million times and shared by 18,500 people.

They're fighting the council because it has earmarked the site for a new $25 million stadium. Stonnington has been considering three other locations, according to ABC, but the locals are adamant that they want to keep their bowling club. The council says the stadium is necessary 'to meet the needs of women's sport which is currently under-catered for'.

Denise Wallish, from the Save Chaddy Bowls committee has told the national broadcaster: "The bowling club is not just a just sporting outlet, for many people it's their connection with their community.

"We have a man in his 90s who said he would chain himself to the fence to save it."

They've started an online petition, which has garnered more than 9,000 signatures. One person commented: "I'm a resident of this area and actually want the Chadstone Bowling club to stay. It is a place where I meet most of my friendly neighbours. Please do not move it from our neighbourhood."

While another added: "Obviously the club is well supported and excellent pastime for members. Keeps people in touch and provides healthy exercise."

Whether they get to keep the club, we'll have to wait and see, but these ladies have certainly made their point loud and clear.
