Wimbledon Spectator Dons White Skirt As He Joins Kim Clijsters On Court

Wimbledon Spectator Dons White Skirt As He Joins Kim Clijsters On Court

Tennis is an intense sport, fuelled even more by a man on the court to waving a 'Please Be Quiet' sign. It can become so silent before a serve that you could hear a pin drop on the other side of the arena.

But that's not exactly what happened during four-time Grand Slam winner Kim Clijsters's invitation doubles match at Wimbledon.

Before serving, Clijsters asks her Australian teammate Rennae Stubbs whether she should serve wide or down the middle. But then a cheeky spectator, who was sitting near the front row, shouted out his suggestion.

While that type of behaviour would normally raise eyebrows, Clijsters had the best response.

The tennis player asks him if he wants to join in on the fun and join her opponent's team on the other side of the court. But Wimbledon has a strict dress code, which requires all players to wear white.

But luckily for the spectator, who the Telegraph has named as father-of-three Chris Quinn, Kim had a spare white skirt in her bag which she let him borrow.

Mr Quinn was slightly larger in body size than Ms Clijsters, but without skipping a beat, the dad managed to pull up the bright white garment and was also given a white top.

Now it was time for Chris to put his money where his mouth was as he stood on the opposite side of the court, awaiting Kim's serve.

Amazingly, Chris returns the serve, but his second attempt hit the net. Despite that, he turned into an absolute hero and thanked everyone on social media.

He managed to get a picture with the players on court before returning to the stands where I'm sure he would have developed a wrist injury from high-fiving everyone.

Once the laughter settled, play resumed and Clijsters and Stubbs won the match 6-2, 7-5.
