If there’s one person we can rely on when it comes to ensuring we don’t pay any more than we need to, it’s Martin Lewis.

And with Amazon Prime Day taking place this week, from Tuesday until midnight on Friday, you might have been wondering which offers are worth it and which ones maybe aren’t quite as good a deal as they appear to be.

So, what does the money-saving guru and his team of experts think is worth buying in this year’s sale? Well, they've put together a list of some of the items they haven’t found cheaper elsewhere, to ensure that you pay the very best price.

From an Apple AirPods to ghd Hair Straighteners, here are a few of his top picks. Just be warned: you'll need to be a Prime member to cash in on the discounts, so if you haven't already you can sign up here.

Apple AirPods Pro 2, £179 down from £229 (22% off)

Given that Apple products don’t go on sale all that often, finding the latest iteration of their AirPods Pro with over 20% off is the cheapest they’ve been all year, according to Martin and the MSE team.

Ideal for listening to your favourite playlists, podcasts and answering calls on the go, if you’ve had a pair on your wishlist for a while, now is a great time to buy.

As with all of the Prime Day deals, prices can go up and down over the course of the four-day event, so if you see something at a good price, to avoid any disappointment you’ll want to add them to your basket sooner rather than later, just in case they go back up in price or sell out.

ghd Gold hair straightener £117.79 down from £189 (38% off)

These ghd hair stylers have cult status, allowing you to straighten, curl, control and add waves to your hair in a matter of minutes. And this is the best price that this pair has ever been both on Amazon and when checked against other online retailers.

Given that we’ve had our last pair of ghd’s for over a decade now, that just goes to prove the kind of quality they are. But at that price, we could maybe do with treating ourselves to a new pair.

Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet, £49.99 down from £99.99 (50% off)

Amazon always tends to heavily discount their branded products - from Kindles and Alexa to their Fire tablets - over Prime Day and the HD 8 model has a massive 50% off.

Whether you use yours to catch up with TV shows on the go or in bed, read books and graphic novels or simply browse the internet and your favourite apps, it comes in two storage options - 32GB and 64GB - and two fun colours as well as a classic black.

This is the cheapest it’s been since November of last year, too.

Oral-B iO5 electric toothbrush, £89.99 down from £280 (68% off)

If you’ve not yet made the switch from a manual toothbrush to an electric one, or your current electric toothbrush could do with a bit of an upgrade, Martin spotted what appears to be an insane deal on the Oral-B iO5. However, it does come with a small caveat.

Even though the three colourways of white, black and pink have an RRP of £280, you can find the toothbrush for £100 at Oral-B, so it’s maybe not quite as big a discount as it appears to be. But, it’s still a good price for the innovative model.

Apple Watch (series 10, 42mm) £295 down from £399 (26% off)

One of the must-have items, this is a bargain for an Apple Watch. The series 10 features a bigger display with up to 30% more screen area, so no more squinting while trying to read your notifications.

It's perfect for monitoring your fitness goals, as well as day-to-day life admin with texts and calls.

It has up to 18 hours of battery life and it's swim proof too, and has the fall detection and crash detection can connect you with emergency services in the event of a hard fall or a serious car crash - which has saved lives and made headlines recently.

Ring doorbell + indoor camera bundle, £54.99 down from £149.98 (63% off)

Ring doorbells were one of the biggest gamechangers when it came to home security, connecting to an app and giving you peace of mind whether out and about or fast asleep upstairs.

This combo also includes an indoor camera, whether for keeping an eye on the house while on holiday, or using it to see what Fido and Tiddles are really up to while you're out many people love it as a pet camera.

The doorbell is also responsible for many comedic videos of people falling over or saying things they shouldn't, too.

This is a steal of a price, and the cheapest it's ever been - the previous lowest price point was £64.99.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K £27.99 down from £59.99 (53% off)

You can watch favourites from Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more with the relevant subscriptions, and you can talk to it too.

There's the Alexa Voice Remote so you can quickly find, launch and control content with your voice.

It's the cheapest price ever, with the previous lowest offer being £34.99.

They have a whopping 30 hour battery life too, so you won't need to constantly recharge them. Lossless audio streaming over Bluetooth and USB-C ensures they're an audiophile's dream.
