A man who lost nine stone on Mounjaro in less than a year has revealed the biggest mistakes when using it.
Marc McKee has been sharing details of his journey using the weight-loss drug on social media after having ‘tried every diet and extreme workout imaginable’.
The 34-year-old said ‘nothing stuck’ until he was prescribed Mounjaro which he says ‘wasn’t a shortcut’.
Typically designed for people living with type 2 diabetes, the drug contains tirzepatide which mimics the actions of hormones GLP-1 and GIP. These are released by the body after eating, meaning the medication makes people feel fuller for longer and reduces their appetite.

So, combine that with a healthy reduced food intake and exercise and Mounjaro helps people lose weight. Since starting 10 months ago, Marc has lost nine stone and experienced a ‘life-saving’ change to his health.

He took to his TikTok, @my.health.with.marc, to share the top five mistakes ‘that no one warns you about’.
“Number one: not plan ahead for social events,” Marc explains. “So I wing it and end up buying something that didn’t sit right or felt pressured into just fitting it in – so check that menu before you go out.”
He then puts the second mistake as ‘letting other people’s opinions influence me’ such as comments he doesn’t ‘need’ to be on Mounjaro.

“You just gotta protect your peace,” he adds.
“Number three, do not compare yourself with others. So rookie error - I used to obsess over what other people on Mounjaro are doing.
“Why are they losing weight faster than me? It’s a trap, their body isn’t your body.”

His fourth mistake is ‘not dressing for your change in body’.

Marc found that wearing ‘oversized clothes’ caused him to feel ‘disconnected from my progress’.
“So when I started buying clothes that actually fit, my mindset caught up,” he adds.
He recommends looking at vintage, second hand or charity shops as they’re ‘all great for short term clothes'.
“Number five, waiting too long to build new habits,” Marc concludes. “I treated it like a quick fix at first, but when I focused on routine, sleep, hydration, movement, that’s when things started to feel sustainable.”
Marc explained to LADbible that since starting Mounjaro, his blood pressure and cholesterol ‘have normalised’ and he’s been able to come off ‘most of the medications I once relied on, releasing the burden on the NHS’.

“Obesity is a disease and Mounjaro was a lifeline,” he added. “It helped me build sustainable habits when everything else had failed.”
Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro, said to LADbible: “Mounjaro (tirzepatide) should only be used when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional, and prescriptions should be fulfilled and supplied by registered pharmacies or providers.
"We encourage patients to consult their doctor or other healthcare professional to discuss any possible side effects they may be experiencing and to ensure that they are getting genuine Lilly medicine.”
