Parents ripped for 'rude' baby name as birth announcement leaves people in stitches

Parents ripped for 'rude' baby name as birth announcement leaves people in stitches

That kid's gonna have a nightmare at school

It's funny what people pick to name their kids, as some names like Gary are now critically endangered while others rise up the ranks.

You might wonder what goes into choosing a baby name, and it turns out a lot of people are influenced by TV and movies they've seen.

You've got to spare a thought for all the kids who were called 'Khaleesi' after Game of Thrones got so popular, only to see the character start exterminating civilians with a dragon.

Then, of course, there was a major increase in the number of babies named 'Barbie' and 'Ken' after the release of the Barbie movie.

Celebrities kind of get a pass on naming their children weird things as we just sort of expect it of them now, but there are plenty of normal people who pick some really odd names for their kids.

I mean, who calls their baby Leviathan?

Anyhow, one couple might have pipped all of those names to the post after they announced the birth of their child and sent up what looked like a 'rude' message for all to see.

Someone posted a picture of a sign outside a birth centre to Reddit, and shared the message with a world ready to laugh.

It turns out the parents had decided to name their kid 'Annaly', which is actually a proper name that means 'powerful and complete', but you know what it looks like.

However, the message announcing the baby's birth read: "Welcome to the world Annaly, 7lbs 10oz."

You might already have figured out what the kid's name looks like, and what jokes everyone on the internet was making.

Of course, people piled in to joke that it was 'not the traditional way to give birth' and they've 'never heard of a baby being born that way before'.

"Ouch! Glad I had my babies the traditional way!" someone else commented, while another lamented that 'that poor kid's gonna get so mercilessly bullied'.

Incredibly, it's nowhere near the weirdest baby names we've come across but it does make for one hell of an unfortunate sign.

Some other intrepid denizens of Reddit dug up what was either another case of a parent naming their kid 'Annaly', or it might even have been the same case.

In that case, the new baby's grandmothers were named Anna and Ally, and the new mum wanted to combine the two into the new name.

That story ended with the mum being told what her baby's name sounded like but deciding not to change it.
