If you feel like you've spotted more spiders than usual in your home this month, you're not losing the plot.

Spider mating season is officially upon us, which — combined with the cooler weather — means you'll be seeing a lot more of the creepy crawlies exploring your house over the next few weeks.

But if the sight of an arachnid lurking in the corner of your bedroom is enough to make you break into a cold sweat, don't panic; there's a solution.

Let’s just say, you won’t need to worry about catching them under a glass or squashing them ever again. Because TikTok is going mad for a gadget that promises to safely and gently remove any spiders from your home.

How does it work?

Available for just over a tenner, the KEPLIN Foldable Spider Catcher has thousands of five-star reviews and we can see why.

Thanks to its long handle, you don’t need to get up close and personal with any spiders as you try to remove them. All you need to do is cover them with the catcher at the end and clench the handle to pick up the creepy crawly without hurting or killing them.

Then you can release the handle once you’re outdoors and another big bonus is the fact that you can even use it on other annoying pests that might have made their way into your home, such as wasps.

Why shouldn’t we be killing spiders?

Even though we’re not the biggest fans of seeing them scuttle across the floor or dangle from our ceilings, “September is when the weather begins to cool and spider mating season begins,” explains Hudson Lambert, pest control expert from NOPE!. “This sees spiders making their way indoors to mate. And you’ll usually be able to spot them first thing in the morning and late at night, when they head inside away from the cold weather.”

And while there can be some issues depositing them outside, having a humane way of dealing with and removing spiders is a lot more important than you might think.

They basically keep away other pests like flies, mosquitoes and moths, so if you remove all the spiders you could actually have more issues with pests than the odd spider sighting.

What are customers saying?

Quite a few shoppers have taken to the Amazon website to share how much this handy device has helped them over the past few months.

One admitted: “Does the job. I am no longer frightened by spiders. When I see one now I jump up excitedly and get my catcher and out the door they go without any harm coming to them. Would not be without mine now. Caught large, medium and small spiders easily.”

While another explained: “So far this has proven to be one of the best things I've ever bought! In the month I've owned this gadget, I've captured five spiders and released them, completely unharmed, outside. It's easy to use and it works! The spiders ranged in size from small to humongous and it worked perfectly on them all. The only trick was getting the spider to come away from the corner or the baseboard as they were able to more easily evade the gadget there. Once they're out in the open, it's a piece of cake!”

A third simply called it their “life saver.”

We will definitely be adding one to our home ASAP.
