Woman exposes ‘shocking truth’ about how much it costs to live full time on cruise ship

Just in case you were planning on selling everything and going on holiday full-time

A woman who lives on a cruise ship has exposed the 'shocking truth' about how much it costs to do it full-time.

It seems crazy to even consider that some people give up their lives on land to enjoy the sweet life on deck, but considering the rising cost of rent and bills, more and more people are seemingly considering going full-time at sea.

And as long as you get used to the 'sea legs' and the scary things you see on cruise ships at night, then realistically who wouldn't want to spend their days travelling the world while having all the food and entertainment one could possibly need at your fingertips?

That's exactly what Lynelle decided to do as she sold her house, left a toxic marriage, and quit her toxic job to fully commit to life on board in 2024, before starting a popular YouTube channel documenting her life at sea.

However, as idyllic as it might sound to have all your needs catered to, Lynelle has previously opened up about the 'dark side' of living on a cruise and sadly it's got very little to do with Star Wars.

In a previous video, she admitted that a lack of space, insomnia, sickness and loneliness are all things she has experienced during her last year off land.

She said: "Take your current bedroom, cut it in half, now squeeze a queen-sized bed, a couple of nightstands and everything you need to live into that half of a bedroom, that's what your cabin is going to look like.

"Depending on your personality I think some people would get lonely on a cruise ship or they would be really sad the people they met and connected with are going home to their families and their lives."

Cruise ships can come with a lot of extra costs and in order to upload to YouTube, Lynelle has to spend the extra fee on WiFi, while other things such as tipping can also contribute a significant amount to your final bill.

She revealed that she spends an average of around $2000 per month on board, which also includes extras such as hotels between cruises and special meals on board.

Worst things about living on board a cruise ship

Other than the sometimes outlandish costs, Lynelle has also shared some of the difficult things about life at sea.

She revealed that while she loves living there, she also has as many as 10 things which she really doesn't enjoy, including completing errands, never being alone, and the lack of choice when it comes to the ship's travel itinerary.

Additional problems include finding personal transportation when on land and the weather, which can sometimes lead to rough patches at sea.
