While we all like to think of ourselves as cultured travellers, few can claim to have visited every single country in the world.
After all, there are a number of spots which are definitely worth avoiding, with the UK foreign office urging people to steer clear of nine countries in particular.
However, some people simply aren't satisfied by the occasional trip to Europe, even if that means stepping inside the secrets of North Korea or heading to war-torn country such as Syria.
And one US traveller from San Diego can now claim to have visited all 193 UN member countries after ticking off Turkmenistan back in 2023, which naturally leads to the question of which one was his favourite.

Back in 2019, when Randy Williams had only jetted off to a measly 120 countries, he revealed the one he loved so much that he quit his job and moved there full-time.

Speaking with LOST iN, he said: "I always get asked what my favourite country is. And the answer for me is so easy because well, it's the only country that I packed up everything, quit my job, left everything behind and moved to.
"I found this city on the coast called Recife. I didn't even leave the airport but passing over the shores of Recife, I saw these beautiful, coral, pastel-coloured high-rises right along the beach. It kinda reminded me of Miami Beach.
"So, on my next trip, I visited it. I found an apartment and then I went back home and asked my boss if I could talk to him and told him I was quitting and moving to Brazil, and it was one of the most exciting times of my life."

Recife is known for its Boa Viagem beach, vibrant culture and charming streets, which were clearly enough to convince Randy that it was worth leaving his life behind for.
For those of you who don't fancy Brazil, Randy also suggests on his blog that Switzerland, Djibouti, Armenia and Brunei are also among his favourites.
Meanwhile, a man who has has trumped Randy by visiting 197 countries, including the non UN-member states Palestine, Vatican City, Niue and the Cook Islands, has revealed some of the best and worst spots he has seen on his travels.
Speaking about Chad, he said: "Never in my life have I been more scared, threatened, or attacked (both verbally and physically) than I was in that hot, dusty, and beaten-down, deserted city.”

The Philippines left a better impression however, as he said: "I think it's the most beautiful country in the world, super safe and full of nice people. It's like everything you could want in one country."
