Brits are unashamedly gatekeeping a budget luxury retreat in the UK to make sure the deal stays ‘a secret’.

To avoid word spreading, visitors are ‘tempted not to leave reviews’ but fortunately for you, word is starting to spread about the dreamy retreat.

The place in question is a 'luxury lodge' in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. There’s the choice between a two or three bedroom chalet nestled in the woodland with a private hot tub for parties of four or six people.

As part of the Sherwood Castle Retreat, there’s plenty on offer too, from onsite archery and wildlife watching to exploring the famous Robin Hood’s village, Rufford Abbey Country Park, and White Post Farm nearby.

The retreat has received hundreds of positive reviews too. One visitor wrote, “We stumbled across these cabins, whilst searching for a very last-minute family holiday, and couldn’t have been more pleased. Absolutely over the moon with our stay and will definitely book again. In fact, I’m tempted not to write a review as it’s like a secret hideaway we’d prefer to keep to ourselves but it’s too lovely not to share!”

Another agreed, as their five-star review reads: “I should really keep this escape secret. My husband and I came here just to get away and spend some much needed time together. It was exactly what we needed. Peace and tranquillity was the name of the game here. It's set in a great location for visiting the sites as well, Rufford Abbey, Hardwick Hall, Sherwood Forest, and the Major Oak.”

A third simply said, “This is a lovely place to stay. Incredibly quaint, set in lovely peaceful woodland surroundings and the lodges are super cosy.” One word: sold.

How to book a cheap weekend break at Sherwood Forest luxury lodge

Wowcher is currently offering cheap weekend breaks at Sherwood Forest for groups of four and six. A two-night stay for four people currently costs £199 (that’s a generous 49% off the official website’s price) with a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates included. Meanwhile, a two-night stay for six people will cost £249 (that’s a saving of 62%).
