A flight attendant has explained why you should never attempt to smoke or vape on a plane - even if you think you can get away with slyly doing it in the bathroom.

Natalie Magee - or @yogimagee as she’s known on TikTok - urged her followers to not be ‘that person’ as she detailed the lengthy delays it could cause for travellers.

In the clip, Magee revealed that she was recently working as a first-class flight attendant when mid-flight they got an ‘emergency call from the flight deck’.

After rushing to pick up the phone, Magee discovered it was the plane’s captain who asked: “Who is vaping in the bathroom?”

However, neither she nor the other flight attendant had spotted the culprit prompting them to make an announcement asking the mystery vaper to come forward - but, perhaps unsurprisingly, ‘no one comes clean’.

She continued: “When you smoke or vape in the bathroom and do not identify yourself, if you get caught, that airplane is grounded for a minimum of about two hours.

"Because they have to do a complete overhaul of the systems and the engines and everything.”

Going back to her story about her own recent run in with a bathroom vaper, she went on: “So luckily we were coming into Denver, and the maintenance could take a look at the smoke detectors and then it was someone else's problem.

“Had we landed in another city - say we were going to Aspen - that thing would have been grounded and out of service for two hours, just because someone went to vape in the bathroom.”

She then went on to stress that if you do smoke or vape and are approached by flight attendants, it’s always best to hold your hands up and admit what you have done.

“If you come clean, you will get berated on the ground,” she continued. “But if you do not come clean, this airplane that’s going to Aspen is going to be out of service for two hours and… people are going to miss their connecting flights because you were smoking in the bathroom.”

Magee went on to say that if the passenger comes clean at the earliest opportunity it’s ‘not as big of a maintenance deal’.

She ended the clip: “Moral of the story: those smoke detectors do work. Do not smoke or vape in the bathroom and if you get caught, you absolutely need to come clean.”
